Subject: Important notice about your ONElist community's name

Dear ONElist Moderator/Owner,

ONElist recently merged with eGroups, another leading provider of email
groups. Since the merger, we've been working hard behind the scenes to
ensure a smooth integration of the two services. Part of this process
requires that all communities have unique names. For example, your
community name is N...@onelist.com.

We are contacting you because your community N...@onelist.com
will have the same name as another community when we finish integration
under the egroups.com URL. Due to this name conflict, we need you to
change your community's name by 3/10/2000.

TO CHANGE YOUR COMMUNITY'S NAME:
1. Go to the settings page for your community by clicking on
http://www.onelist.com/settings/NGL (please note that
you will need to log in as the moderator of the community)
2. Click on the edit button in the description heading
3. Modify the name of your community in the name field and click on the
"Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page. The name change is
immediately effective.

OR, if you prefer, we will automatically change the name of your
community to NG...@egroups.com (or something close)
and will notify all members of your community. PLEASE NOTE that if you
do not change your community's name by 3/10/2000, we will automatically
make the change to the name as listed above.

HOW DID WE DECIDE WHICH COMMUNITIES NEED TO BE RENAMED?
We want to assure you that we worked closely with community moderators
to develop a fair system for determining which communities will need to
be renamed. This system takes into account the following:
1. How long the community has been on the ONElist service
2. The size of the community
3. The activity level of the community
4. Whether the community is an announcement or discussion community

HOW WILL I ACCESS MY COMMUNITY IN THE FUTURE?
When we launch the integrated service with the egroups.com URL, you and
your members will still be able to access your communities using the
existing ONElist URLs and addresses despite having to rename your
community. For example, if your community's name was exa...@onelist.com
and you changed its name to renamed...@onelist.com, all mail posted
to exa...@onelist.com and renamed...@onelist.com will automatically
be redirected to renamed...@egroups.com. All ONElist URLs for
exa...@onelist.com and renamed...@onelist.com will also redirect
to the corresponding eGroups URLs for renamed...@egroups.com.

WHAT IF I OWN THE SAME NAME ON BOTH ONELIST AND EGROUPS?
If you own the same community name on both the ONElist and eGroups
services, you can delete one of the communities today and still retain
the same name. Or, we will automatically change the name of your
ONElist community before migrating both groups to the new service so
there won't be a name conflict. Either way, you'll end up owning the
name you want.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and we thank you for your
patience and cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact us
at sup...@onelist.com.

Thank you,
The ONElist Team

P.S. Please remember that the deadline for renaming your community
is 3/10/2000.
