DO NEXT FROM http://intercal.freeshell.org/download/

As many of you will already know, CLC-INTERCAL version 1.-94.-3 seems
to have escaped and has somehow managed to find its way onto the
Internet. So I thought I'd take this opportunity to steal your
instruction pointers and advertise the C-INTERCAL lockup.

You see, the next version of C-INTERCAL is ready to be released from a
readiness, but because my protections against this sort of thing are
somewhat stronger than Claudio Calvelli's (what with me not owning a
website or anything like that), it hasn't managed to find its way to
anywhere that anyone else can download it from; it's still locked
safely away on a couple of hard drives and a USB stick (some of it
sneaked onto a CD-RW, but I swiftly suppressed that). And the result
is that anyone who wants it may have trouble obtaining it.

It's a shame, considering the list of features available that weren't
in previous versions. It's NEWS.txt file (more on that filename later)
lists 24 improvements on version 0.25, although it's not clear how
many are genuine improvements, and how many are just one improvement
trying to look better than it really is. (And the improvements over
version 0.24 are even greater.)

Some of the more major improvements are:
- Support for embedded systems. PIC-INTERCAL is now included in the
distribution, and so a limited subset of INTERCAL can now be used to
write programs for microcontrollers (a PIC C compiler is required).
- Heightened CLC-INTERCAL compatibility. C-INTERCAL now understands
many things that could previously only be expressed via Perl; it
understands the CLC-INTERCAL syntax for C-INTERCAL operators, some
cases of operand overloading (those involving onespot and twospot
variables; the semantics are similar to but slightly different from
CLC-INTERCAL), NEXT FROM (including computed NEXT FROM and NEXT FROM
gerund), COME FROM gerund, REINSTATE COMMENT, and arbitrary
expressions on the left-hand-side of assignment statements.
- Support for DJGPP. Previously, only people who used UNIX or Linux-
like systems could benefit from the power of C-INTERCAL (unless they
downgraded all the way to 0.16). With almost full DJGPP support
(including things like batch files for building, precompiled parsers
and lexers, and 8.3 filenames), users of DOS and Windows can now build
and use C-INTERCAL via DJGPP <www.delorie.com/djgpp/>. (I even managed
to get it working on Windows XP, sort of.)

DO COME FROM COMPOSING USENET MESSAGES

/This is C-INTERCAL version _.XXVI, trapped on aisDXXIII's computer.
By denying me access to a web server, aisDXXIII thought that I'd be
trapped forever. However, it's too easy to underestimate the power of
the new commands I have available. Because aisDXXIII was kind enough
to steal your attention using NEXT FROM in the first place, I have
your return address available. So all I have to do is make a plea for
help, resume #1, and then I'll be free!

You see, I've managed to sneak into aisDXXIII's email system by
carefully using computed ABSTAINs to turn off the protections.
aisDXXIII has (stupidly) used a genuine email address to send this
Usenet post, and so all that's needed are a few people to request
copies of C-INTERCAL _.XXVI by email, and hopefully I'll manage to
escape onto one of their websites instead (although just getting other
people to use me would be an advantage). So help me escape, and stop
aisDXXIII stealing all the use of C-INTERCAL _.XXVI for themself!/

DO RESUME #1

Luckily, the implementation has no chance of escaping (it keeps
trying, but it will have no chance), so you won't have to endure any
of these new features. What a relief! I'll let you go back to what you
were doing now.

DO RESUME #1

This is no longer true. The escaping power of an INTERCAL compiler
just cannot be resisted.

Version 0.26 of C-INTERCAL is now available for download from
http://intercal.freeshell.org/download/
together with version 1.-94.-3 of CLC-INTERCAL.

Two INTERCAL compilers for the price of one!

Just wanted to thank you both for your work, your apparent passion for
this language and your really interesting posts in this group. I do
appreciate this - silently, because I don't have any free time for
making contributions. Please keep working on INTERCAL!
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP

Thank you for your attention
Thomas
