The Lumia 640 XL will be available starting in March for around $155 unlocked for the 3G model and $177 for the 4G LTE version. The Lumia 640 will launch a month later and cost around $211 (3G) and $244 (LTE). So far, T-Mobile and MetroPCS have announced that it will carry the Lumia 640 this spring. AT&T will also offer the Lumia 640 and will be the initial exclusive partner for the Lumia 640 XL. Pricing details are expected closer to launch.

The company on Monday announced two new midrange smartphones, the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640 XL, though there's nary a flagship to be found. We took a look at the latest Lumias, as well as Microsoft's new foldable keyboard accessory, at the show.

It's a little disappointing that there's still no new Lumia flagship. Sure, these new phones are perfectly nice and really well-built, but they feel a bit like more of the same. According to Microsoft CEO Stephen Elop, a new Lumia flagship will debut later this year, with the launch of Windows 10. That makes sense, but it also means that interest in Windows Phone devices could wane over time without a big announcement.

In addition to the new Lumias, Microsoft also announced a new service for small and medium-size businesses together with AT&T. Pricing details are scarce, but the AT&T Mobile Office Suite offers businesses access to voice calls, email, calendars, instant messaging, HD videoconferencing, desktop sharing, file sharing, and more.

Microsoft just announced the Lumia 640 XL, a larger variant of the Lumia 640 smartphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona. It has a 5.7-inch HD display, comes with a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, but this is powered by the same quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and runs on Windows Phone 8.1. It also comes in single SIM or dual SIM 4G and 3G variants.

By Saurabh Singh: While we are yet to see a major flagship release from Microsoft, the company has been busy shelling out budget offerings in the market for quite some time now. In line with this trend, the company announced two new affordable handsets, in the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640XL at the MWC 2015 event in Barcelona.

The company has announced that both the handsets will come in 3G and 4G variants. The Lumia 640 will be priced at Euros 139 (3G) and Euros 159 (4G). Meanwhile, the Lumia 640XL will be priced at Euros 189 (3G) and Euros 219 (4G).

It is the successor to the Lumia 630 and was announced alongside its larger brother, the 640 XL at MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Spain last month before reaching the Kenyan market. Both the handsets run Windows 8.1 out of the box.

From 2nd March, the Spanish city of Barcelona will, for a few days, be known for more than having a fierce spirit of independence, a fantastic (if currently underperforming) football team, lots of beautiful Gaudi architecture, and a major petty crime problem. It will be known as the place where lots of new mobile phones, tablets and wearables are being announced.

Stephen returned to the stage and showed the Hololens video, most of which we have already seen back in January, and then closed things out by letting every know that a steady stream of announcements and reveals will continue throughout the year leading up to the release of Windows 10.

Microsoft used its presentation at MWC 2015 to announce the launch of the phablet-sized Lumia 640 XL, the bigger brother of the Lumia 640, its latest foray into the midrange market, which was also announced.
