This is a novel about a trading ship that trades with natives
in Alaska, Canada, Siberia above the Arctic circle in 1905-1906.
The book is based on an unpublished memoir of one of the
crewmen.

They actually hunted and killed polar bears, a whale, and
walruses.

There sure was a bunch of stuff going on up there a 100
years ago: murders and kidnappings, not to mention the
weather and info about the native culture.

I read it and liked it.
