There will be two major strands. The first will be a beginner to
advanced set of workshops and classes on Computer Assisted Reporting
led by trainers from Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE) from St.
Louis, MO. Then simultaneously there will be a strand of practical
workshops of advanced internet research, media law, international
freedom of information practice, and importantly a series of seminars
and workshops on business investigations - methods, practice, how-to
guides to fillings, documents, forensic accounting, and how-to analyze
company reports.
Also planned are classes on medical investigations, military and war
related issues and at least one major debate. Other sessions are
planned on Women in investigative journalism and ethnic community
investigations.
The non-profit school is supported by the Lorana Sullivan Foundation
one of the biggest scholarship providers at the Columbia School of
Journalism in New York. Registration fees for the three days are
£300, but this is reduced to £200 for genuine students. We have some
inexpensive local hotels and restaurants nearby.
Our website will have the finalized detail shortly as well as last
years programme, which ought to provide a sense of what the School
will provide.
Please let me know if I can help with any further information.
