Mentors wanted: Take 2

As I did last year, I am trying to round up 20 professional journalists to
serve as e-mentors for students in my advanced journalism class beginning
in April and running nine weeks through the beginning of June. The
students are juniors and seniors, and they attend Hunterdon Central
Regional High School in Flemington, New Jersey. All have taken a beginning
journalism course, so they know the basics of news and feature writing. In
the advanced class, they will be attempting to freelance an article for
publication, they will create their own zine either in print or on-line,
they will be working on an online publication, and they will be working
with mentors. It's a lot of independent work and learning.
Last year, the mentor part of the class was a huge success. I'm hoping it
will be this year as well. Mentors and students would correspond on a
variety of topics via e-mail once a week for the nine weeks of the class.
All e-mail sent by mentors and students will be copied to me, and I may
join the discussion from time to time. If possible, mentors may be asked to
provide feedback on student writing, and they would be expected to share a
piece they are currently working on with their student contacts. In
general, mentors will serve as a resource and a guide as my students work
through their projects.
