I am a full time net surfer and have found a few good sites. I hope this
will entertain and educate. Each site has a different theme and subject
matter. I'm practicing to become a journalist and was hoping that some
newspaper or press agency would pick up this story. Below are my reviews of
some good sites on the Internet.

Art Online?
http://www.UCanBuyArt.com
The Internet has become the Mecca for artists. The starving artists have
flocked there with high hopes of selling their wares. Most artists lacked
exposure due to their reclusive lifestyles but the Internet changes that.
Since the costs of having a web site are practically free many of these
artists are building homepages. However, the majority of them lack the full
understanding of the Internet and haven't seen much success. This is where
the virtual gallery steps in. These online galleries offer large marketing
budgets and the skills of professional web developers to market these
artists work. However, again their success has been limited. The problem has
been that art is a subjective thing and many art connoisseurs feel that they
need to see and touch the art before they would be willing to purchase it.
One gallery that has managed to successfully attract clients was
UCanBuyArt.com. It unlike many of these galleries it is similar to the
Amazon of the art market. It offers a vast selection of art from an
inexpensive hand made print for $60 to a painting from the Guinness Book of
World Records worth $240,000. It is easy to search and is a warm and
inviting site. This user friendly approach could be the possible reason for
it's success. (Recommended by Better Homes and Gardens)
Looking for a home!
http://www.Virtual-Agent.com
Virtual-Agent.com makes looking for a home easy. It has a unique approach to
the way it brings real estate to the online market. It uses a large database
to power its member realtors sites. The agents sites are each very unique in
their appearance and approach but use the search capabilities and selection
offered by the Virtual-Agent database. This provides customers the selection
of mega-site with the personal touch of the individual agent's sites.
It is quick to find an apartment or home in the area you are looking for.
The picture quality was excellent. The company has teamed up with ipix to
offer 360 degree viewing of the homes listed. Truly, it worth checking out.
Starting a business and need some money!
http://www.VenturePie.com
With the fall of the dot.com's, it is hard to believe that are is any
venture capitalists left who are willing to invest. Ironically, more and
more companies seeking investment are using the Internet as means of
obtaining financing. VenturePie.com is one the companies which helps to
match corporate and private investors with entrepreneurs seeking funding.
VenturePie is meant only for those who serious about their business. To
register with VenturePie takes 20-30 minutes to complete their forms and a
lot of background information is required before you even considered
applying. What is nice though is the fact that the service is free,
entrepreneurs only pay after results are achieved.
Making your Dream Home a Reality.
http://www.Quess.net
If you have a few million dollars and are looking for your dream home then
look no further than Quess.net. This site is one architecture portfolio
site. Even if you don't have enough money to afford one of their homes,
Quess.net is worth visiting. The information provided about period homes is
extensive. The section on construction techniques was particularly nice. It
teaches the viewer about the development of style and architectural form.
Quess.net's educational approach and classy design make it a must see.
Making Healthy Brews from your computer.
http://www.homebrewforhealth.com
My father was quite involved with making home brews, when I was a child. I
remember waking up to the sound of bear bottles exploding. I didn't say that
he was good at making these brews. Now that I'm older I wanted to discover
the fine art of the brewmaster. I searched on the Net and came across
HomeBrewForHealth.com. I was overwhelmed by the elegance of the Flash design
and found lots of good information and an excellent selection of home brew
kits. This site is worth visiting even if you don't like beer just for the
when that they have layed out the site.

There's a weekly newsletter called Netsurfer Digest that covers this
kind of thing. You can submit newsworthy items to
pres...@netsurf.com. I have no idea about payment, but I suppose you
could look for guidelines at www.netsurf.com, or simply drop them a
line.
You could also suggest an occasional column of interesting sites for
your local paper. There are a lot of such columns out there, and I
imagine the demand will only grow as the Internet does.
