Subject: Please join news...@egroups.com

This is the eGroups.com service.
Concerning: eGroup/Mailing List "News & Views"

To: Newsgroup Subscribers

The moderator of the news...@egroups.com group
would like to invite you to join this eGroup.
Here is a welcome statement provided by the group moderator:

------

Dear Newsgroup readers & participants - Here is a message from the News &
Views eGroup, inviting you to
subscribe (no obligations whatsoever, no charge - its just for fun and
discussion). Please allow me to explain.

This eGroup is all about the News, Who are in the News, the People behind
the News (Sources and Journalists), possible Views on the News and on the
institutions which produce News. It features World News, but also
Entertainment and Infotainment, Fun, Advertising, Movies, Books &
Literature - as well as ideas related to (Social) Science, Theories of the
News, issues concerning the role of minorities & the media, polyethnicity
and the news, gender issues and so on. The main themes are still News and
Views on the News - as wideranging as these can be.

The early discussions on the list have focused on Press Codes of Ethics,
Press Freedom and notions of Universality in the media.

The goal is to distribute News and Views as widely as possible, stir up
debate or just keep touch about these topics. The main language is English.

It is FREE, you can subscribe and unsubscribe at anytime and it is
moderated through a Website by "me", Mark Deuze, research associate at the
University of Amsterdam. Note: this is NOT an academic eGroup per se,
although it CAN be. Whatever YOU want! I have sent YOU this eMail because I
assumed you might be interested in reading/writing a couple of eMails about
the topics mentioned every once in a while. One possible catch is, that
sometimes you will find an ad underneath a message posted to the list -
this is unfortunately necessary in order to keep this eGroup free. Please
bear with me on this one, thanks for your understanding.

To join, you must either:

1. add yourself by entering your e-mail address into the membership
form found with the group's messages on the eGroups.com site;
this form is also available on my Website at http://home.pscw.uva.nl/deuze

or:

2. You send an e-mail to newsviews...@egroups.com

If you join, you can read group messages in your e-mail
in-box or on the Web.

------

If you do not wish to join, please just ignore this invitation.
If you already received this or another similar invitation to join
this group, please accept our apologies.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact the
moderator of this group at de...@pscw.uva.nl or visit
http://www.eGroups.com/info/help.html

Thanks!

The eGroups.com Team and:
