Description
To specify and execute the manual and automated testing of the client’s GUI-based software. To assist in managing the testing process within the company’s iterative development projects.
This role would suit a PC-literate person with the right attitude and aptitude.
Previous experience in a Software-testing role, or other software-industry experience (such as in Support or at a Help Desk) is desirable. The successful candidate must have a good academic background, and have well-developed communication skills.
Duties include:
· Early involvement in the product specification, to ensure that requirements are testable.
· Definition of test plans, and involvement in the project plans to ensure that testing can be effective.
· Development of test specifications in both manual and automated forms.
· Execution of tests at project baseline points.
· Raising, prioritising, tracking and retesting problems.
· Evaluating and reporting results.
· Assistance in the development of the testing process.
Qualifications

· Have a ‘test to break’ attitude.
· Can see problems from the customer’s viewpoint.
· Can identify problem areas, even where specifications don’t exist.
· Have a strong desire for quality.
· Pay attention to detail.
Candidates must show that they can react appropriately to changes in the development environment. In an iterative development environment a test engineer should be able to adapt to specifications that become increasingly detailed during a project, and be able to test partially complete products. In such an environment a test engineer must also be able to indicate to a project team when changes to specifications must cease.
Enthusiastic tester required for Cambridge-based company. You must have a strong academic background and a merciless attitude to testing, along with sold commercial experience in the software industry and excellent communication skills.
