The historical Cold War aggressions by U.S. right-wing
leadership against Cuba is proof that their concern was
never really for the good of the Cuban people, but to protect
the American wealthiest class against an ideology that was
not favorable to their interests. It is unfortunate that
we see a return of that, under Trump.

The American people do not realize the full scope of
covert aggression that took place. When in Cuba, I picked
up a book, "Biological Warfare Against Cuba", by Ariel
Alonso Perez. The book builds an evidence-based case
to support the contention that the U.S. repeatedly employed
a variety of disease agents against both Cuban crops and
human population, with devastating effect.

Professor Perez himself, however, appears still not to
have realized the full scope. It is essential to put
his book in context with allegations by Judyth Vary
Baker, who had been a protege as a young researcher,
and alleged that she had been recruited into a
secretive program to develop a biological agent that
would be used to "kill communists", including Castro.

The biological "agent" that she described involved mutated
monkey viruses and sounds highly similar to what eventually
became known as the "AIDS epidemic".

Ms. Baker is predictably villified, but it is undisputed
that she she had been a cancer research protege who had
also known Lee Harvey Oswald.

It is vital that these puzzle pieces be joined together
and made known to the American public. The ascendency
of the far Right, which now again threatens Cuba,
would be shattered if the full picture of the Right's
madness came to wide public attention.
