1. Some Harvard kids from alt.fan.karl-malden.nose attempted to invade
alt.tv.beavis-n-butthead. The leaders of this invasion were Matt
Bruce and Mark Staloff.

2. The Beavis people did not appreciate this, particularly because the
Harvard kids came in with the attitude that their percieved superiority
in grammar and spelling connoted intellectual and aesthetic superiority.

3. Somebody pulled out Matt Bruce's meow meow post and started tacking it
to .sig files and cascade-fucks and everything else they could think
of. Spammed it to hell and back and then some.

4. When Matt Bruce found out about it, he *ordered* the spammers to cease
and desist, because they were only making themselves look silly. More
.sig file and cascade-fuck fodder.

5. Even though Matt Bruce eventually apologized for his stupidity, the
Internet fan club he had already built up was reluctant to let this
meow meow thing go. Whether because of rampant anti-intellectualism
among the unwashed Usenet masses, or Matt Bruce's unique approach to
interpersonal communication (he plans to go to law school, believe it
or not), the meow meows have permeated (mheh heh heh) Usenet to a point
that it's impossible to predict when or even if they will go away.
