can anyone point me to a site that gives all irc commands and things like
the ctrl+k type things please...new user :)

The best place to start would be the helpfile for your irc client. I know for a
fact that Pirch and mirc gives info on all of the standard irc commands as well
as things like using color codes and font attributes. If you're using mirc, take
a look at the "basic commands" and "control codes" sections. For pirch look at
the "command reference" and "fancy text" sections.

You may also want to visit http://www.irchelp.org which has a lot of info on all
sorts of IRC related topics.

The help file of your client should explain all this (settings vary from
client to client). Type /help
