Where can I call a real person to explain my problem with getting on
Global Stage or the undernet? I can get it to work for 1/2 hr at the
most and then I crash or freeze. I have allocated 10 MB to the program,
upped my Stuffit to 1000K, and have overall 64 RAM. Everything else with
Netcom works great and bug-free, so what's the deal? My CPU just passed
the MAC PRO Tester CD so there's no corrupted files or hardrive
problems--I only have about 4 programs on it, and 1 GIG left on the
HD!!! To tell me to download a newer version would be like asking me to
run before walking---I have no idea how to use the original program, let
alone download and reconfigure another.....J

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO FILL OUT THIS NEWSGROUP SURVEY

We at USENET occasionally like to get feedback from our readers so that
we can better serve our customers.

The USENET is the authority that runs the Internet Newsgroups, such as
this one, alt.irc. USENET solicits a small fee from Internet Service
Providers (ISPs) such as AOL, Prodigy, Compuserve, and Netcom for access
to the Internet Newsgroups. Part of these revenues is used in the hire
of consultants for each newsgroup.

In the interest of remaining competitive and providing the best service
possible, USENET uses random test groups to get a feel for the level of
service provided by USENET employees. Please aid us by filling out this
survey to help us make promotion/continuation-of-contract decisions about
our alt.irc (AI) Consultant staff.

------------Begin-----------

1) How much do you pay (monthly) for Internet access?

2) Have you ever asked a question on alt.irc?

3) Was your question answered promptly (same day), completely, and in a

4) If you had to pay slightly more for Internet access in exchange for
higher-paid, more qualified AI Consultants, would you?

Indicate amount more per month you would pay (US): $___.__

I called Netcom and the person who helped me stated that my L2 cache was
too low. So I raised it in accordance with all the other memory
settings and after determining that I had everything else set up
correctly adn that my system is clean, I tried again with no luck. I
keep getting a TCP could not be opened message error code -23012, or I
get in for a few seconds and after typing in a few lines, I freeze.
This is mind boggling, as she stated that many other users have no
problems, and I have no trouble with any of the *other* parts of my
internet program, or system in general. I am a newbie and have done
considerable study on the Mac since June, but this one really has me
stymied. For 64 RAM I have my L2 cache set at 2048 but this made no
difference. In fact, before, when I had only 16 RAM and 512 cache, that
was when I got in for about 1/2 hour. No answers in any of the links
provided, and believe me, I've followed every one of them given!!! I
like the program even better than Netscape Chat for ease of use, and I
don't want to mess with downloads until I know what I'm doing because I
could foul up something else in the process. I would like to try to make
this work.---Jane

I replied to your survey,(Adam Noel Harris) and your personal e.mail
address as well, and for some reason, BOTH were bounced back as user
unknown. This has been happening a lot lately, with both postings
and e.mail, and sometimes the message is erroneous, i.e., the
message DID get through. Can I believe that Netcom is THAT
overloaded? No wonder they can't make my TCP connection for my Chat
program!!!!!!!! Or is there something wrong with the settings in my
TCP panel??? I know nothing about TCP, and I'm pretty fed up at this
point---the solution should be simple!!---J

Isn't there ANYONE who uses NETCOMplete for the Mac with Global Chat
1.3 out there who can help me solve this mystery? TCP connection
error code -23012 and Apple's help archives simply repeat that this
signifies a TCP failure to connect(duh)------What other settings
should I tweak?????---J

Hey, where am I?! I'm going to have to send this check for $1,500 back
if I don't get the flames I deserve.

Or something like that. -rt (boycott trolls! they're made by kathy
