What do I need to do when I get the following message after trying many
servers?

"Unable to resolve IRC server"

Thanks!

I don't know about all the IRCnets, but several entries for icenet
servers in mIRC 4.7 aren't valid. You'll probably have to log onto one
of the UK or AU servers and get a list of valids server's domain names.
if your haveing the same prob with other nets, it could be the same
problem.
Unable to resolve sounds like eigther they don't have a domain name
entry or your haveing problems with your local dns server.

Go to Setup/local info and make sure both boxes of 'on connect always
get' are checked. Is all the other information in Setup filled out?

Are you trying to use a 32-bit mirc with a 16-bit winsock? Using the
16-bit mirc might solve the problem if this is the case.
From what I have read in the mIRC 4.7 messages this latest version
should be less 'touchy' in finding local host, resolving servers etc
-I can not say from my own experience as I had no trouble with the
former versions on this point.

If all servers are suddenly giving this error while usually you can
connect your provider's DNS might be down, it'll likely get fixed
pretty quick -it is helpful to know the IP address of your favorite
servers if your providers DNS is not as stable. (do /dns <servername>
next time you're online and enter the numbers where you would enter
the server name)

Hope one of these things helps solve your problem!

It can resolve your local host, but not the IRC server?

That's screwy sounding.......

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are'nt AOLers only able to connect to AOL
IRC servers? Humor me, (hehe) and try:
/server washington.dc.us.undernet.org
(AOL's undernet server)

if this fails to work try:
/server 152.163.193.129

You should use another port besides 6667.. that server accepts:
6660, 6661, 6662, 6663, 6665, and 6667

To use another port, use:
/server washington.dc.us.undernet.org port#
or /server 152.163.193.129 port#

Hope this helps.

Select "Connect" not "OK" after highlighting a server.
