I'm trying to help a friend troubleshoot some problems on an old DOS
(yes, you read that correctly) system. He's running an ancient CAD
program on the system and won't give it up.

He has an external Zip drive with an Iomega parralel port adapter card
in an ISA slot. The system isn't seeing the adapter and the drivers
refuse to load when the system is booted.

Can the Zip drive be connected to a standard printer port or will it
only run off of the Iomega card? If so, will data rates be slower on
the standard parallel port?

BTW, (this is sort of a triangular shaped card) and it actually has two
ports on the back - the parallel one, plus what looks like a female
serial port. Normal PC COM ports are male. What is the additional
port for?

Let's make sure that this really is a parallel port card. By its
description, it seems more of a SCSI host adapter card instead
of a parallel card. Until one is certain what type of ZIP drive
is present, do not attempt to mount into the parallel port since
the parallel port will certainly fry a SCSI ZIP drive.
