All,
I have just bought a Linksys wireless router(befw11s4 2.4 ghz). and it
was very easy to set up for conection to DSL and the wireless part, as
long as you read the directions. I have one Problem............. I am
currently a MCSE student trying to set up a domain @ home. I have a
server running with windows 2000. I have installed Active directory.
DHCP amd DNS. with no problems. THis is my problem I have 2 other
compters plugged into the router and they cannot see DHCP and cannot
log into the domain( after i turn off the DHCP on the router). What am
i missing? I also tried to use the router as a router and not as
gateway and that didnt seem to work either. Does anybody have some
good knowledge on this.

My final goal is to to have the server running DHCP(active directory
and DNS) as a domain Controler

Be able to Add the other PCs to the domain

And use the linksys as a access point to DSL

IS this possible???????? and how??????

thanks you for any help
Eric

Did you disable the ability of the Linksys to act as a DHCP server? The
setting is under the DHCP tab, set it to Disable.

I have a similar set up at home. I have 1 PC set up as a gateway with
ICS. DHCP and DNS is turned on, on this PC. I do not have Win2000 server
just Professional. You have to have one PC wired to the BEFW11S4 to
configure it. The default IP for it is 192.168.1.1. Change this to
192.168.0.2 (my main PC is set to 192.168.0.1) and make sure the sub net
mask is 255.255.255.0 Disable DHCP on the BEFW11S4. When setting the PC's,
configure TCPIP to get an IP automatically and set the Gateway to
192.168.0.1. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact
me.
