Installed a WAP11 2.2 and the wireless card by linksys (3.0) took 10
minutes total, stuck the CD changed the IP of the WAP11, put it on the
outside interface of the pix 501, stuck the card on the laptop and the
drivers installed without requiring a reboot. I used the ciscoclient
to vpn into my network and not one packet drop or vpn session drop
regardless of laptop location in the house. range is improved over the
original WAP11 which I returned lastyear since the range and
reliability of the link was real poor.

I did not enable WEP so I cannot vouch for the WEP performance, but
overall its reliable and easy to configure and range is good.

Hugo,...Congratulations! I fought a battle (and lost) trying to get that
combo to work together. What driver/firmware version in the WAP and WPC do
you have? I like the units - especially the browser management capability
and wanted them to work. :-) That, however wasn't enough in my case.

1.09 on the WAP11 2.2

the Linksys card is ver3

works good. the only thing outstanding it the duplex mismatch between
the WAP11 and interface 0 (outside iface) on the PIX501, it lowers
throughput to 1mbps but hopefully Linksys will get back with a way to
force the duplex to half on the wap11. but I do get out and connect to
my network (via IPSEC/Radius vpn though) I disabled WEP since its
worthless anyhow

The "beta" was version 1.01.00 I do not remember now, but it seemed
that it was delivered with a 1.00.09 or something like that. Are you
sure?

Also, did you d/l the updated firmware and drivers for the WPC11 v3?

Strange but you seem to be the only one, or one of the few that got a
connect.

COngrats, from what I heard, but have no proof, the v3 card is
supposed to have a more powerful trans/receive then the ver 2+

yes it said 1.09 on the AP

about range, it is much higher. I originally bought a WAP11 1.1 and a
dlink card 1 year ago and returned it, range sucked and even in the
the living room link was bad. with this new WAP11 2.2 and the linksys
3.0 card I can actually go to my backyard and sit right by the lake
and get signal with no problem and this is with the WAP11 2.2 stock
antenna sitting ontop of the tower doing IPSEC via the firewall.
Amazing, no dead air anywhere in my home/yard and its a 9200 sqft lot.
big improvement like night and day

Interesting, I am going to have to verify if what they gave me was a
step back or forward. ??

Only reason I am keeping mine for now. Also there is the off chance
that they might upgrade it to 22Mbps, depending on the memory, etc.
