Please excuse my ignorance, but I've gotten conflicting advice
from salespeople. The equipment all seems to be labeled "cable/DSL".
I want to set up a wireless connection to my laptop.
I have dial-up ISP access only.

What equipment do I need to connect the laptop wirelessly,
and to share files with my PC? I won't be using both computers at the
same time.

Thanks for any advice!

You need to get an access point that supports dial up accounts. I know
the Orinco did. I don't know about others.

SMC barricade models used to - havent used one for a while so dont know if
they still do.

Used to have a broadband connection (ADSL/Cable) and a backup dialup using
an external modem.

Good luck with your search

I have been using the Dlink 714 wireless router. This router, a
discontinued model, supports dial-up connection (I have never tried it,
though). You may be able to get one on ebay. I don't know if the new
DI-714P+ has dial up or not.
