Seems to be comparable to the v1.x system in terms of speed

Two WAP11 v2.2 6 ft away from each other
Channel 11
WAP1: Access Point
WAP2: AP Client mode
WEP : disabled for test
Firmware : 1.010

Qcheck : 4.2mbps
FTP : 2.6mbps

What is interesting is the FTP is slower than a QCheck, usually its the
other way around (on our live v1.x network).

Also ran a WAP11 v2.2 (AP Client mode) connecting to a WAP11 v1.1 (AP Mode)
and achieved similiar results.

Can't wait til they start supporting 22mbps which is what the chipset in
this WAP 11 v2.2 was designed to do. Hopefully a firmware upgrade will
enable this feature.

Talking about WAP11 v2.2, does the hack for v1 still work to output 100 mW ?
Has anyone tried it ?

Thanx

No the v2.2 currently doesn't support SNMP so you can't adjust the power.
The 100mW hack on the v1.x is overrated anyways, best to just get a good dbi
antenna from fab-corp, it will increase your distance more with a cleaner
signal than increasing the power output.

If I see you post one more falsehood, I will throw my mouse through my
monitor. I did the power boost and got so much coverage that I dialed
it back to 70mW. I get full coverage in two buildings on four boxes
using Linksys version 1.0 cards. OBTW, the correct answer for that
gentleman was that version 2.2 ships at it's max output of 100mW.

AJ your a fricken idiot if you think the wap v2.2 outputs at 100mW, its
FALSE, read the fricken report submitted to the FCC for certification, it
clearly says 15.87dbm OUTPUT POWER, page 6, FCC Report at
http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov:443/prod/oet/forms/reports/Search_Form.hts?mode=Edi
t&form=Exhibits&application_id=456987&fcc_id=O7J-GL2422AP

15dbm = 31.62 mW
15.87dbm = 38.63 mW
16 dBm = 39.81mw

So the TRUE OUTPUT of a WAP 11 v2.2 is only 38.63mW
The WAP 11 v1.x was approx 50mW (17dbm according to the certification)

2.2 standard default output is 100 mW anyway.

It's 20dbm RTFM, although I wouldn't trust you to read a gas guage.

ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pdf/wap11v22_ug.pdf

This taken from personaltelco.com:

Note that the ver2.2 WAP11 is completely different inside from the
"old" WAP11. None of the flashing firmware, SNMP, other hacks from the
old unit work with the new one. According to the documentation, the
ver2.2 unit _will_ interoperate with the old design in the various
bridging modes. The ver2.2 WAP11 comes in a blue and green cardboard
box and is easy to identify if you have one in front of you. It claims
100mW RF output, which makes it hard to understand how range could be
lower than any of the other low cost APs. Perhaps there are some bugs
still to be worked out in this new design. I heard a rumor that it is
based on euitcom technology (old WAP11 was Atmel). When I get a chance
I will cut one open and take a look.

AJ, the FCC Report does not lie, the Manual DOES. The FCC report is actual
'measured' output using certified equipment.
Also the WAP 11 v2.2 is based on the Texas Instruments chipset that has the
ability to do 22mbps, just like the FCC report states. Hopefully a firmware
revision will enable this feature in the future

This is false, the manual is wrong, the correct 'measured' output from the
FCC was 38.63mW
Its just false advertising, thanks Linksys!
