Here is a note I sent to YVV.COM Tech Support but never
got any response:


Dear YVV.COM Tech Support:

I used the "flatrate.zip" program to set up an account
with you, but didn't enter the source code ID# (obviously
I hadn't read the instructions very clearly). Note the
exert from the sign-up instructions below:

"........ALSO, you will need to enter a SOURCE CODE OR
REGISTRATION ID. This is only for the first time in order
to complete your SLIP/PPP Account........"

"............IMPORTANT: You will not be able to log onto
the Internet until you have given your SOURCE CODE. This
is how we are able to provide you with a FLAT RATE
Account............."

"............<<< YOU CANNOT COMPLETE REGISTRATION WITHOUT
THIS NUMBER. >>>YOUR SOURCE CODE: NETCENTER1001 (Either
upper or lower case OK.)................"


My problem is that I entered in my name and credit card
info and forgot to type in the SOURCE CODE. The user ID
that I requested at the time of sign-up was "tommyvan".
At the time I signed up I was able then to launch
the chameleon web surfer, but then my system crashed, and
I have been unable to successfully log-in since.

In subsequent attempts to log on using the "custom dialer"
the screen indicates a "CONNECT", but then disconnects
after a 90 second time-out. I have attempted to set the
"Chameleon web surfer" to the village.yourvoicevillage.com
URL, but it responds with an "unrecognized URL" when I
click on the chameleon icon.

Also: DO I HAVE A VALID USER ID? You folks must think so
because you billed my credit card for $40 (the $25 setup
fee plus the $15 monthly charge). So much for being able
to use the account so far!!!

I'd like to reinitialize the custom dialer and web surfer
parameters. I think I messed up the settings trying to
log on after being unsuccessful so many times. My
question is, if I rerun the sign up software and
e-register using the same username, "tommyvan", and give
the same credit card info, will I be double billed for the
setup????

I currently use NETSCAPE as well as NXExpress news readers
with my compuserve account with no problem (other than the
outrageous rate$$$s). I launch Netscape and NXExpress
them through home .compuserve.com and news.compuserve.com
servers respectively using my compuserve internet dialer.
I simply click on the application's icon and the
compuserve dialer takes over and does the rest. Is this
how the custom dialer is supposed to work??

My question is: Once my YVV.COM account gets set up,
which NNTP (news) and SMTP (mail) servers do I use? Do I
need to specify a proxy server? What port for each
address: 80, 125 or 119? Do I enter
village.yourvoicevillage.com" and port 80 for all of them?

Can I set up my Compuserve dialer with my YVV.COM access
#, user ID and password and launch the same applications
as I do now with compuserve? Do I need to delete the
compuserve dialer for your dialer to work properly?

initiate a "suspense" for the $40 charged to my VISA card
and take my business elsewhere.

YVV.COM Testimonial #2:

....just a word of warning.....contact your credit card
company NOW and get this taken care of because you'll
never hear back from the people at YVV. I had a similar
experience with them not too long ago. I found the
software online and thought I'd try it out, but as soon as
I signed on and gave them my credit card #, I was never
able to get online again. After 3 weeks of calling their
800 # every day, I finally got a call back from someone
there who cancled my account and assured me that I
wouldn't be charged for any time online since I was never
able to get on the service after my initial sign on
session. But, a couple weeks later when I got my credit
card bill, there was a charge for $40 to YVV. I tried
contacting them again by phone and by e-mail, all of which
went unanswered, so I contacted my credit card company and
refuted the charge. They credited the $40 back to my
account and I haven't gotten any more charges from them,
although I do check my bill every month just in case : )

I also contacted the Better Business Bureau regarding YVV
and so have several others on this newsgroup, but I got a
letter back from them saying there was nothing they could
do because I couldn't get an address from YVV and all the
calls to them just go answered. Anwyay, my advice to you
is just contact your credit card company now and get this
taken care of because YVV is a fraud and you'll never get
any service from them any other way.

Anyway, I hope these two testimonials will save others
from the hassel that others in this group have had to go
to!
