Well, you have a lot of links but so what? They may well not be worth
much. A handful of quality links are worth more than hundreds of
crappy ones.

Not necessarily.

I've been doing a lot of studying lately on page rank and it seems
that in order to increase your page rank you need to get one way links
or even reciprocal links from websites that have a page rank of 7 or
8, it's also a more valuable link if the site is in the same niche as
yours...I found that the best way for you to get these high ranking
pages to link to you is to provide good content on your
site....another is to write articles and then submit your well written
article to article directories in hopes that a high page rank website
will pick up the article along with a back link to your site. I hope
this has been informative and of some help.... (link farms are not
good back links)

Well, Derr.
Pretty obvious.

State the obvious again.
And not just with high ranking sites.

Crap.
Correct, write articles, but for YOUR site, not some other site.

Not at all.
Will only help the clueless.
>(link farms are not good back links)
State the bleedin' obvious again.

Much smarter (no pun intended), is to put those articles on /your own/
site, and try to get others to link to it. Back in 2003 it was how I got a
nice link from about.com.

Based on my studies, theres a number of ways to get a higher page rank
and I suggested a couple, if you have more valuable information then
share it rather than being critical of those of us that make an
effort, o.k. take care Paul and good luck in all of your marketing
efforts. Oh by the way I'm looking forward to hearing some of the ways
you've reached such a high page rank, that is if you have, I'm still
woking on a higher page rank and have been studing a lot about it,
slowly but surely I hope to get there, if you are already, then great

Your sites are PR ZERO

You stated this :
"I've been doing a lot of studying lately on page rank and it seems
that in order to increase your page rank you need to get one way links
or even reciprocal links from websites that have a page rank of 7 or
8, "
So, if I had a PR9 or 10 site, they will be no good ?
Why just 7 or 8 ?
ANY site that is related to yours, has their page that your link is
on, cached. Not too many links per page, no black hat ... THEN you
will benefit.
> take care Paul and good luck in all of your marketing efforts.
Why do you asume that I am in the marketing business ?
Why do you also asume that I do SEO for a living ?
>Oh by the way I'm looking forward to hearing some of the ways

http://www.firstpeople.us PR5 [was 6]

And if you think PR has anything to do with SERPS, then you are
totally wrong.

Oh yes .......
Google: First People
My site is #1 out of 217,000,000
First People of America
#1 out of 25,900,000
First People of Canada
#1 out of 23,900,000
Houston Crafts ........ over 120 #1 positions.

You are wasting your time trying to gain higher page rank.
SERPS is what counts, not the little green bar.
There is NO MAGIC to SEO.
It is mainly COMMON SENSE.
The FIRST thing you want to do with your sites is to create UNIQUE
content, not steal it from other sites. See below.

Is that the way you do your marketing efforts ?
Or are you saying that you wrote it and they used it on their sites ?

It's not difficult to rank well for search terms that nobody uses.
Who would search for that? What kind of person?
For success, you need to get in the head of the searcher, and rank well for
THEIR terms.

Really ?
People DO use those terms.

I go by my log files. Sadly, it doesn't tell me WHAT kind of person.

Yep, and 13000 people a day find me. Go figure.

A good question: page rank is no longer very important.
As for links, these days you need Quality - not quantity. I have sites with
fewer than twenty links, and higher page rank than you. Careless linking can
reduce your ranking. it may be that your reciprocal and cr*p links are more
than compensating for the good links that you have.
Tidy up your outgoing links, and the incoming ones will not be able to hurt
you.
