I've run across many search engine submission companies ranging in price
and claims as to what they do. Submitplus.com plus says for $259 it will
place you in the top 10 of three major search engines plus Your web site
and each Doorway Pages will be successfully submitted to a minimum of 1000
search engines and directories for a total minimum of 6000 search engines,
directories and indexes. Additionally your web site will be submitted to a
minimum of 85 top search engines and directories every two weeks for a
period of one year.
Does anyone know if this is true or if there is any submit co. that really
works?

comments much appreciated,
Chris j

Hi Chris.

Rules

#1:
Never trust anyone that guarantee top something. Top something - yes they
can do that - but based on what keywords. Not much good to get #1 on
"pl0p"!.

#2:
Never go for that large amount of search engines. It is a scam. It will not
do you any good. You probably use the same search engines as everyone else -
would you use any of these 1000 search engines (that are not search engines
but Free for all link pages that wont do you any good).
http://www.searchenginebase.com/ got around 450 and then some search engines
listed. The majority of these will not even get you trafic - why should be
1000 then?.

Besides: doorway pages are out! - they simply do not work. If they said they
would create "information pages" - you might should consider them.

#3
They say that they submit your site to the top 85 SE's for a year. That is
not at all nessesary. It is said to make you think that they actually do
something. They should instead have written that they will monitor your
pages and resubmit in case they drop from the index.

#4
Serious - I would not go for that offer. It sounds like another scam or at
least someone that promisses to much and try marketing themselves on
unserious methods. I have send a few suggestions for optimisers via email to
you - but would rather keep it clear of the group.

I hope you can use this info for something. Good luck in your efforts!

/Martin

Ask them to name all 6000 engines and directories. Then ask them what
percentage of traffic comes from the top 20 of those portals.

The point is that submission beyond the top 20 engines does very little.
Submission beyond the top 100 gets you nothing, except spam in your mail
box.

Also, do they guarantee that you site will stay in the top 10? getting there
in the first place is one thing, but staying is another. It is potentially a
very short-sighted promise.

Do they make the doorway pages for that price? If so, I bet they don't look
anything like your site...and I bet they are made using WPG.

You get what you pay for. Sorry to be so negative ;-) If you are curious,
give it a go - it isn't much money to lose.

GNet - http://gnet.dhs.org/ - Free for individuals and companies, US$25
(including future upgrades and live engine updates) for webdesign
companies. Submits to 160-200 engines (real search engines, no FFA pages
or classified listings).

Just keep in mind that there is a huge difference between optimising and
submission companies.

Submission companies does not offer you any way to increase ranking - so it
is all based upon how well you do the optimising yourself. What the main
problem about submission services like the above is that they usually are
banned very fast with most of search engines. Some say that search engines
autoban if they recieve more than 2-3 submissions a day. - A service that
offers autosubmission should not last long.

Optimising companies will most likely get you better ranking - and will in
most instances do all the submissions pr. hand because most submission
services does not work ( most! - not all :)

Cheers

- Quite easy. Since they are optimisers. They should be well ranked in the
search engines :)

Try searching google or altavista on search engine optimization-

Also - there is a few in this newsgroup that works as optimizers.

The best submission company is YOU YOURSELF!

All major search engines offer free tips on how to set up your website and
improve your rankings.

Anyone who can read and understand English can read this tips, study them,
and then apply them!

Submit to the 10 top search engines and do not concern yourself with the
other 5990.

some of the following overlap or are controlled by the BIG DOG
TimeWarner/AOL/Netscape/ODP

ODP
AOL/Netscape
HotBot
GoTo
Google
AltaVista
Infoseek
Excite
Lycos

Get your site on ODP and you have got it made!

The problem with site optimizing and submissions is that most businesses
don't have the time to do it properly, and it does take time to maintain a
good ranking. That is why optimizing companies are there. The listing
criteria change all the time and once again, optimizing companies do (or
should0 keep up to date with these changes.
