My friend had problems with the upgrade, her dialup connection is
fine, but the e-mail part didn't work.
I set the POP3 / SMTP servers to be pophost1.breathe.com and
mailhost.breathe.com (got the names off the net) but it's giving a
password error though we believe the password to be correct.
Could someone with a breathe.com account and could post the names of
the POP3 / SMTP servers just to confirm we have them correct ? Their
email / phone support is not very responsive.

I think I was transfered to breathe from pgen.net, however I recently
it stopped workiing and didn't recognise me as a user, I later got
an email telling me to upgrade the dialer, I did this and not the
dialer says it cannot fint any numbers to dial!!!!
I have tried contancting breathe but it is always engaged?
What am i to do?
I sent email and no response.
I want to stiop breathe from setting uop a direct debit.
Does anynow how a breatthe DDebit appears on a
statement so I can tell the bank to block it.

Check out the "formal notice of cancellation of 0800 dial account"
thread. This covers most of the options available.
Suggest you cancel your DD with pgen.net as this is the method they
will use to extract payment. You may also find that pgen.net has been
liquidated, if the abouve thread is anything to go by.

I've not been using Breathe for dial-up for a while, but did send
a message earlier and checked it with their webmail (first place
to use your password). No idea about the SMTP server, sorry, but
I did then test the POP (via telnet) and although the servers are
with Tiscali, you should be able to get mail with
server mail.breathe.com
username some...@breathe.com
password your_password
The webmail service had an announcement copied here verbatim:
Please note: Any messages you had previously stored in
breathe.com webmail in personal folders, or in your Sent Items
will be transferred to the new service within the next week.
These messages will be available to you again after this time.
but will they use powergens name? or transfer to breathes name?
think maybe i switch gas and electric and cancel the lot.

speed is good, but they tricked me into phoning support line at 50p a min
so i have reportrf them - bastards.
think i will cancel all powergens stuff to be on safe side :O|
I still think you will find your ISP contract is with Powergen, just
tell them to cancel it. Ask them what formal notice they have given of
the contract transfer, and tell them you will report them to the OFT
for failing to formally notify you of the transfer of your contract,
or giving you any way to cancel your contract.
Hold them responsible and demand they cancel your ISP contract, and
pay compensation for the lack of service.
I have tried contacting them by email but I cant (says not allowed
or summat. Im not sure if the email address is valid now anyway
as the company does not exist any more (I think )(pgen.net that is)

I have to be careful about canceling as I may actually have several
weeks worth of time that I have 'prepaid' for so if I simply say cancel my
account I would lose that time.
Obviously I want to get my moneys with with some big downloads etc....

I am not eveb sure if I have an account with breathe or not!!!
I cannot contact them and their dialer wont work, there
support section rejects my emails.
I guess I will only know when they start debiting my account :O(
