My two-year old 14 cu. ft. Frigidaire refrigerator fresh food section stopped cooling for about 24 hours then returned to normal. That was two months ago.

Well this morning I found the fresh food section back at 60 degrees again.
Ugh! (The freezer section is working normally.)

Any ideas which part may be causing this temporary stoppage? Last time I believe the repairman replaced a part (he may have called it a timer) that was making a rattling sound.

UPDATE:
My research suggests that it was the start relay that was replaced -- since that is the part associated with a rattling sound when it fails.

I'm currently trying to remove the toe grille (unsuccessfully) to see if I can located the defrost timer. The owners manual is really skimpy.

The cause of this problem (freezer OK, but food section not cooling) is that it may be the defrost timer. At first I thought it might be the evap fan motor.

It has failed twice in the last 60 days, but both times it failed was on a Sunday when I couldn't get a repairman out to analyze the problem until Monday -- and by then it started working again. Presumably because the icing on the coils melted.

Most likely is the defrost timer.
