Hello all!

DH and I have been TTC for over 2 years now. He had a low sperm count due
to a varicocele (which was fixed). I have PCOS and had a laparascopy to
remove mild endometreosis.. Double Whammy!! We tried Clomid for three
months with only 1 positive ovulation.

May 2003, we drove 4 hours to Atlanta to get set up with a doctor there. I
joined the aip ng and absolutely loved those ladies. Our first IUI failed
and I had a hard time dealing with it. I wanted it to work so badly, like
all of us do, but I also realized that even though I had been through so
much, there were so many more women out there that had gone through much
more than me. Total respect for these women. Anyway, I took a couple of
months off the ng and just took a couple of months off period. Trying to
decide what we were going to do and when and everything.

August 2003, my husband had a break from school so we decided to try IUI ONE
more time. We were basically getting ready to adopt, but decided to try
once more. Shots went ok-though I hyperstimulated AGAIN. I had 22
follicles on each ovary, with 6 being good enough. DH's count was up on the
first day from 3mil to 9mil and on the second day from 1 mil to 12 mil. We
were VERY happy, but I was in some pain with the hyperstimulation.

Did everything I could during my 2WW to not go absolutely crazy! I couldn't
even hold out. I was supposed to have my beta done on Monday Sept 15 and
ended up having it the Wednesday prior.

Here are my numbers as of right now:
September 10 first preg test beta 29 progesterone 16
September 12 beta 109 progesterone 19
September 15 beta 245 progesterone 16
September 17 beta 352 progesterone 21.08

I realize my progesterone is not in the norm range. I am taking 4
progesterone pills each day, along with 2 vaginal progesterone suppositories
each day.

The downside is, I have been bleeding (like having a period, not spotting)
since last Friday. My doctors have said that it's normal with infertility
patients due to the amount of medicine they push through you. Also, some
women just continue to bleed throughout the pregnancy. Do any of you have
success stories with bleeding but carrying to term?

In addition, 7 years ago today I had brain surgery to remove a brain stem
tumor that had burst and given me a stroke at the age of 22. I am now 29
and pretty much just the same as I was before. My body is a little more
delicate now, but just the same nonetheless. I also had a shunt placed to
remove some of the fluid during the surgery. Because of this, I have to have
a planned C-Section. My due date is May 24, 2004. I'll find out in 2 weeks
how many babies I have. (don't ya just love fertility drugs!!!)

Coincidentally, my sister has also been trying to have a baby. Somehow, we
ended up on the same cycle (she's taking clomid, I did follistim with double
iui). We conceived on the same day, ovulated the same day and our due dates
are the exact same. Crazy huh?

Anyway, I've rambled long enough. I hope to be here for a while and I look
forward to getting to know each of you!! Take care, good luck and may god
bless each of you with precious angels!!!!

Sincerely,
Allyson Edwards

Allyson,
Welcome!

I am not sure about bleeding that much throughout a pregnancy. I've had
some spotting scares but it was just very light brownish
spotting-nothing period-like.

I've *heard* but do not know for a fact that you may experience bleeding
with the suppositories. My Dr. had me taking injections of progesterone
in oil. My numbers got so high I asked to be cut down to a half a dose.
I was up in the hundreds and I *believe* that anything over 20 is good.

So, good luck to you and congratulations! I hope the rest of your stay
here is uneventful.

Hi Allyson! Always great to see someone make it across the newsgroups.
Hope you have a super easy pg.
BTW, my first cousin that I grew up next door to is due 7 days after
me. I tried for 5.5 years and she's been trying for 2 so 2004 will be
a big year for our family :)

Hi Allison!
Welcome and congratulations!
OMG...that's really amazing that your sister and u have exact same dates! a
nice funny coincidence:))
About bleeding, I had bleeding once in a while during my first trimester, it
happened about 4 times or so. Obvious I was every time runing to the doctor
:( I was so scared! It used to be some brown spotting, but never enough to
compare period....the last time it happened was red and was a bit more
quantity but happened one single time and stoped. My doctor game me
progesterone during 2 weeks after I had first spotting...she did put me on
6 daily vaginal tabs and some extra magnesium to take since then and always
till the end i think. They say magnesium helps a lot.
The doctor was never too worried since she saw always heartbeat....and I
read that many women have this mainly during first trimester and doctors
don't really have a reason for it. So, if it is not too much bledding
together with pain and/or bad nausea and it stops after a few days it might
probably be no reason to worry.

All the best!
