Okay, this is just for fun.

http://hometown.aol.com/gandsbrock/myhomepage/heritage.html

It has a picture of Jake and my husband when he was a baby. I think they look
so much alike. Please visit.

Too much time on my hands? Not!! We have lots of babysitters here this
weekend!

They do!
We have the same deal, here. My son looks just like his DH did/does.

Stephanie, they really do look alike! You'd almost think they were the same
baby. Daddy must be so proud... (That's m'boy!)

Ok, my turn. I whipped these webpages together, so they're not exactly creative
or artistic. And no, they're not even linked, lol.

Here's my cutie patootie and his nursery (unfinished):

He's a real doll! I miss my little girl at that age!

I think the blue/white gingham curtains would look nice. I've got yellow/white
gingham in my nursery, and they are perfect.

It's really terrible that I actually am a Webmaster for a living
and I hadn't put any pictures of Caitlin on the Web yet.
Well I finally did. They are at:
http://c32366-a.lvrmr1.sfba.home.com/caitlin.html

The rest of the site is pretty out of date. I have 3 pets that
aren't even mentioned in the pet section yet and I've had them
for years:-) I do it all day at work, so it's hard to do at
night.

We moved when he was one year old, so I use that as my general purpose
excuse- before he was one, we might have moved at any time so why fix it up?
then we'd just moved into the new place, so i had that excuse. now it is
that he is getting older and i might need to rethink the baby themed things
and think about making it a big boy room. I'm just full of excuses! :-)
By the way I saw your beautiful twins on your web page and they are too
precious !

I found it one of the most exciting things I have ever done. Our design

need to do it again!

Hey Alyson,

(warning, more excuses...) I figured between being Mom, moving cross
country, buying/selling homes, and pursuing more infertility treatments the
nursery would have to wait :-) Although he might settle in better if his
room were in better order. I think it would be exciting to decorate it if I
had even a bit of talent for that kind of thing, but I don't seem to be very
talented that way. I did manage to get a big area carpet for his room, I
put a bear/wilderness plate on his light switch, I put a hook and eye on his
bathroom door so he can't get in there during the night (he's not potty
training yet but he's possibly needing a big boy bed), got him a very cute
bear/wilderness bedspread for a big boy bed, and I've been pondering what
kind of big boy bed to get for him. Looks like he'll have a mattress on the
floor for a while until I figure it out. I think it would come together if
I painted the walls and put up curtains. I need guidance, Alyson are you
hiring out your decorating talents? :-) Just kidding, we live too far away
anyhow! Where did you get your ideas? How did you know how to decorate it
so they would grow into it later? What colors did you use? I'd love to
know! What will you do for beds?

Cathy

P.S. no I didn't do the guest book, missed that!

Thanks, I get the catalog already! I would love to get DS that rug in the
catalog that is shaped like different pieces of a race track. Or the golf
green rug. They are all so cute.

I ordered my crib bedding from PBK. It is even nicer than it looks in the
catalog! The quilt and bumper really are handmade, and you can tell it is
very high quality. When I actually do a nursery/toddler bedroom, I'm
thinking of getting one of those fun looking rugs.

Unfortunately they don't really have a web site. The web site does tell you
how to ask for a catalog though!

with little flowers. Unfortunately I don't have the crib yet, so it isn't
all set up. Crib won't be here until after the baby is born!!

It does have some great ideas - I like the antique-looking maps & boat bed,
with the boat paddle hanging on the wall - too cute!
Cathy, I was also going to suggest the LL Bean or Eddie Bauer home catalogs, if
not to order from, then just for room decorating ideas.

There's a ton of stuff you could do with a wilderness theme - wish I'd thought
of it! A teepee/tent over the bed, a forest painted on the wall, fake
evergreen tree (could double as a hat-rack), wall art or posters of wildlife,
old fishing rod on the wall, antlers as "hooks", duck decoys, furry rug, etc.
We also put glow-in-the-dark stars on DS's ceiling in the shape of
constellations - not sure he knows what they are yet, but he's got plenty of
time!

Have fun decorating!

Thanks for the ideas, believe it or not I am actually getting inspired to do
something about this room. We just put a twin mattress on the floor
yesterday so I was forced to clear out clutter to make room. I am going to
look for some kind of border to put at waist level, something with trees
hopefully. Or maybe I could just trace my old Colorado license plate, LOL.
I have an aunt who is an artist and I would love to have her paint something
for me but she lives in California (far from me), plus to me it seems like
such a big job. Maybe it's easy when you know what you're doing? I mean
painting pictures rather than painting the whole room one color. I love all
your ideas, thank you!

I knew a lady who borrowed an overhead projector from the public library, and
photocopied pictures of characters onto transparency film. Then she projected
the images on the nursery walls & drew them in & painted later. Labor
intensive, but minimal cost - cheaper than flying an artist to your house :)!!

Stamping is easy too - would be an easy way to do a border (DH despises wall
paper - he'd rather just paint over something than tear off paper, spackle,
sand & repaper).
Another friend of mine traced her hand, her DH's hand, and her baby's hand onto
thick sponges & cut them out. She used them as stamps to do a border in the
nursery of all three sizes of hands - I loved this idea, but I would never want
to paint over it!!
Have fun!! & let us know how it turns out.

I have one for ya. I just did this one and have already received compliments.
I cut out cute baby faces out of all of those baby magazines you get free (no
crying babies, and babies of all races and tender family moments). And then I
pasted these onto pastel paper that I cut to size. No measuring necessary.
I've got a row of about 7 of them along the wall beside the crib and above the
rail, and mine are between 4 or 5 inches big. I put it up for the babies to
look at, but it looks nice too. I want to put some beside the changing table,
but I want to laminate them first (clear contact paper) since they are always
grabbing at stuff.
