If someone walked up to you tomorrow,
and handed you $1,000 and told you
you have ONE hour to spend it and only
at ONE store, where would you go and
what would you buy? :-)

I would go to Bed, Bath and Beyond,
and redo my bedroom, in a Palm Tree Theme!
Bedding set, curtains, palm tree lamps,
palm tree border, prints, etc.
If there were any money leftover,
Id blow the rest on candles and candleholders!
Oh what fun that would be!

I would go to Linens and Things. I would redo my bedroom as well, I have my
eye on what I want already. With the money left over I would put it towards
the kitchen. It wouldn't take me the full hour to spend the money either.

The puplish looking color is actually a navy blue, doesn't look blue in the
picture. The pinkish color is actually more of a maroon color. The picture
doesn't do this justice at all. I have a current bedding pattern from
Croscill that has all the same colors, but this one has more.

I just didn't get to finish my bedroom in the pattern I have due to funds.

Here is the pattern for my table and colors in my soon to be remodled
kitchen.

Hmm, I want a new bed.

I also have it in for my kitchen floor, which seems to have won a design
contest for catching the most dirt possible and looking as horrible as
possible mere moments after being washed. It's white with beigy and grey
flecks (none too beautiful) but the real problem are the nubbles and pits
designed to catch grime.
I think $1000 would about cover it.

Or do I prefer tossing out the refrigerator. . . .

I feel a muddle coming on.

I like the deep rich tones for
the bedroom.

As for the kitchen, that is how
I am doing my kitchen! :-)))
I ordered the rugs, and am
doing the border soon.
I already have the 'valances and tiers' up!

Very good taste. hehe!

Ah, sounds like my kitchen floor.
Its very pretty, but I have to
mop it EVERYDAY.
Then once every 2 weeks, I get
on my hands and knees and scrub
each and every tile.

One day Ill get Pergo in there.

Hey, that's *my* kitchen floor exactly! It's also vinyl linoleum and
has not stood up at all to big dog nails (or big dog dirt). What was
I thinking???

Now you know that i would think of spending it on myself but the mommy
in me would take over and I would probably spend it on the kids!!! LOL
(toys r us):??????

But seriously i would go buy new clothes for me! My kids look better
dressed than me!!! Its sad to say but i have lost and gained weight so
many times i have clothes that are too big and some that are too small
in my closet!! Ack!!!!

I would probably spend the money on clothes for me at Sears/Jc penney!
cant decide!!!

Oh, I'd race to the nearest Home Depot - but it would have to be at least
$5000, and I'd only need about 20 minutes. ;-)

Practical me, Lowe's. We need a new lawnmower and BBQ. Also, we are
finishing our basement and could buy a lot of materials for that.

I would probably go to a Music Store and buy tons of cd's for my neices
and nephews, I never buy for myself. I have not purchased anything brand
new (clothing) for myself in YEARS. I am a thrift store shopper :). I
LOVE THRIFT STORES!!! I just bought a pair of Jogging shoes at Walmart
last week (a whole $12, MIL had to talk me into spending the money) last
jog shoes were from 4 years ago. Looked bad but I don't go anywhere that
it matters. So, it would be a music store for me. I would spoil the
neices and nephews in St.Louis, since the kids in LA seems to get more
(since I am here)

It's a toss between Ethan Allen and Pottery Barn. Probably Ethan Allen if I
only have one hour.

We are putting a second story addition on our house, so I will be needing new
furniture and things.

Too bad no one is going to hand me that $1000!

I think I am going to get the White Letters, spelling Abby to put in her room.

I would head to the biggest Target I could find and I'd buy all those
things I would like to have, but really don't NEED. I'm *very* frugal
(OK, cheap) and I just don't shop a lot, nor do I replace things until
the original is dead and buried, nor do I buy stuff I'd 'like to have'
but don't need. So, I'd get a new blender (mine is at least 25 years
old and only works on one speed), a new food processor (even older), a
new clothes dryer with a door you don't have to kick shut, a new
vacuum with a HEPA filter, a new electric broom, a new iron, some of
those new fangled cleaning supplies, and new sports equipment for the
kids. Probably hockey sticks for street hockey, new rollerblades now
that they're both in adult sized shoes, new baseball bats, pitchback,
soccer cleats, etc. And lastly, I'd stop in the candy and junk food
aisle and try all those things that look great but are so pricey I
couldn't see buying them. :-)

Home Depot!

I just ordered laminate floor from online for 500 sf of the house I am
living in, but I still need linoleum for the bathrooms and carpet for
the bedrooms. At home depot they have leftover pieces for severe
discounts that would work for our purposes, so I probably wouldn't
spend $1000 on that, but I need new countertops, more paint, some
wainescotting (sp?) for a hole in the back of the cupboard (ex-rental
damage!), mini blinds, a new bathroom sink and a new toilet, so I
think we could manage to spend $1000.

door on the first level to make it easier to let the dogs out.

I am sorely tempted to head to the art gallery with Brigitte, but am
more likely to run into the rest of you at Home Depot, putting down a
deposit on the new garage and backyard fencing that we hope to put up
this spring. Or the new insulation and siding that we want. Or new
windows. Or a new roof. I love this house, but it is a money pit!

Aw, come on. I'm lonely over at the art gallery. ;-)

I thought the point to this question was MAD money. If I were to be
sensible, I would put it toward the credit card. :-(

Oh, fine, count me in! What is that line of credit for, if not the Home

wonderful!

travel agent, take DD1 back to QLD where she was born, where we'd go to her
park that we all used to go to every sunday morning, see her fountain at the
park, take her to her swim lessons she loved so much, around on our evening
walking route. sigh.

oh i miss it so much.

The sick thing about me is that I would love to buy the home depot
stuff! It is the art of creating a beautiful house.
