SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (WJLA) - A Spotsylvania father of two young
children severely beat a family member who allegedly locked
himself in the children's bedroom while partially naked on
December 29.
When Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the
chaotic scene in the 6800 block of Luce Lane in Spotsylvania
County, they found the father with a handgun quickly approaching
the suspect, who had severe injuries to his face. The man
dropped the weapon after deputies instructed him to do so. They
then arrested 60-year-old Mark Stanley of North Carolina.
Stanley was arrested with two counts of Indecent Liberties and
one count of Domestic Assault, according to Spotsylvania
Sheriff’s Office.
WHAT HAPPENED
After investigating the incident, deputies learned that Stanley
was visiting family members for the holidays. When one of the
family members woke up, he decided to check on his two young
children who are 2 and 3 years old.
When he opened the door to their bedroom, he allegedly found
Stanley, nude from the waist down, standing in the room with the
children.
When the family member questioned what he was doing in the room,
Stanley pushed the family member out of the room and locked the
door, Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office says.
The family member forced entry into the room and began beating
Stanley, according to Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office. Stanley was
transported to a local hospital for his injuries and later
committed to Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
The children were taken to a hospital to be evaluated.
Additional charges may be brought against Stanley as the
investigation continues. No charges were brought against the
family member who severely beat Stanley, according to
Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office.
