I am sure that you have been exposed to the official fairy tale
version of the "vasectomy experience".. so I will try to present
another perspective, this is a bit long (sorry) the subject requires
some space to address..
Basically the official story goes.. the procedure safe and simple
procedure only takes a few minutes (this part is true, few men have
died under the blade thus far)... the sperm harmlessly reabsorbed
back into the blood stream (the word harmless actually appears in
one of the pamphlet that your clinic gave to you then hold on to it!!!)
, your sex life is better (in many cases the opposite is very much
the case), you live longer and there are no negative long term effects
(some clinics and public health authorities are backing off from that
last statement).
In more physical terms a vasectomy is having your vas deferns cut in two,
the ends are cauterized or sutured, interrupting the flow of sperm
from the testis. Thus far, cool, sterility is achieved.. unfortunately
living happily ever after is not in the works as someone forgot to tell
the testis to stop producing sperms..
With the holes on the tubes bunged up and the testis of a normal
healthy man still dedicated to the production of sperm, something has
got to give.. and it does.. The sperm backs up and eventually forms
a tooth paste like sludge.. as the sperm backs up so does the pressure
and blow outs begin to occur along the epididymis. Destruction and
eventually atrophy does occur to other parts of the testis..
Because the body is not ordinarily exposed to sperm (those critters
were never meant to be out in the blood stream), antibodies to the
sperm are produced and the problems begin to crop up. Reports of
secondary and politically incorrect effects are rising to the surface..

If, according to one survey (which was taken off the web about a month
ago, re: http://www.mediconsult.com/noframes/general/journal/automation
/960102032003.html), conservatively speaking about 10% of the men
suffer from the malaise know as post vasectomy pain (strongly refuted
for many years by the urologists.. as a in your head syndrome)
Therefore every year there are another 50,000 dudes out there with a
very serious case of "pain in the balls" thanks to the simple and safe
vasectomy
On the legal - moral side… Why would the medical "authorities" maintain
the fairy tale version? Well, the long and short of it is that don’t
expect a cohesive group of professionals to be self incriminating..
too many vasectomies, too many interests. They (the MD’s and public
health authorities) always a very quick response to negative news..
and the answer is always the same.. its safe, don’t worry.
It is interesting to note that real MD’s (males) don’t have vasectomies,
they just dish them out. The number of healthy male MD’s that have
resorted to a vasectomy for contraception is far below the numbers found
in the general population.. now why would that be?
If you are still convinced that a vasectomy is the answer.. then have a
lawyer look at the informed consent papers that you will be asked to
sign. Ask for them ahead of time.. Pay close attention to the
responsibility that the MD assumes for any "unexpected" side effects or
other "unforeseen" ills. I am more than sure that the MD will wash his
(or her) hands on assuming responsibility for the long term effects of
this voluntary procedure.
Remember that the vasectomy is not the treatment of a pathological
condition, it is voluntary… the patient assumes the responsibility of
anything going wrong by signing the informed consent. This paper
relieves your MD from any future problems you might have.

Hello Glen
Well i can say from experience that i am a healthy male who has had
the operation done back in 1985. The hole thing took about what seem an
hour. They shave the area, then freeze and cut where need too and put
you back together. Then they let you rest abit and your on your way.
The most painful part was trying to sleep on your side with it swelled
up abit and your hair growing back it can be pretty sore. After about
3-5 days your back doing what ever you did before.
As for lack of sex ha my sex life i would say is much better, because
you don't have to worry about your wife or girlfriend telling you your
a father again.
From what i have seen and read it is much safer for a male to have that
done then to put a woman through what they would have to have done.
Go for it and be happy
Don
