I Savant,
Interesting. I've traced human sacrifice to the Babylonians. Where ever they
appear, human sacrifice also appears. What was the Holocaust but a Nazi rite of
human sacrifice in honor of the Sun god?
And I've always thought that the passage in Daniel about 'the last days ' (Dan
12:11 'the abomination that causes desolation') was refering to human
sacrifice.
I don't believe Abraham shared the Babylonian mindset concerning human
sacrifice, (that's why he left town). Although he hated the practice, he loved
God more. And when God directed him to make a blood sacrifice of Isaac, Abraham
struggled with it but figured if God said so he would do it. (Of course God
hates human sacrifice too, so Abraham was stopped, and God was satisfied that
Abraham was serious about his faith.) Animal sacrifice and the Jewish faith
began at that time.
Once God had some folks who were responsive, other things could begin to be
restored. Circumcision was not a continuation of human blood sacrifice in
minature, but had entirely different purposes.
What you've posted here indicates that the Babylonians infiltrated the Jewish
religion a long time ago. God's response has been to inspire reform movements
which move away from the Babylonian-style of doing things. (I'm no expert on
Judaism so I can't give examples off the top of my head. But I think you can
follow the bloody trail back to its Babylonian origin.)
Religious human sacrifice can only be ended when all human beings are
recognized as the children of God.
