being as how MP-39 is a direct drop in replacement for R-12 in cases where
the evap temp is above -10ºF, is there any reason that it could NOT be used
in a vehicle that has an R-12 A/C system??

I don't know Steve.. But have found R416A to be acceptable by EPA.
And is a direct dropin... Kinda nice to add an ounce or 2 of poe though.
Also has a free manual that shows wiegh in amounts for all models of cars.
i.e. 1985 Pontiac Fiero 47oz R12 or 36oz of 416A
Also according to manufacturer.. you can top off R12 with R416A***
EXCEPTION*** EPA doesn't allow mixing of gases!! I have had good
luck with this. Can't seem to keep enough labels and schrader valve con-
version kits on hand though.

This is Turtle.

Correct me if i'm wrong here but MP-39 is only good for cases that maintain
+ 10 degrees F or above. MP-66 is for temperature for under + 10 degrees F.
Freezers use MP-66 and Coolers use MP-39 .

I have used MP-39 in Coolers and get very Good results , but MP-39 in
walk-in Freezers . With MP-39 in a freezer , I see very long run times to
get near -5 F or even Zero degrees F. Some will not get there and have 100%
run time. Take the MP-39 out and put MP-66 in it and run like a charm.

I am look at some stuff called R-414-A , which Whirlpool is recommending to
replace the freon-12 freezers and coolers that they have sold in the past. I
am being told it is a drop in for R-12 systems. The Whirlpool Rep. is
getting me some to try out here soon but I will just wait and see.

Life was very simple when I could just say get me some 12 or say get me some
22.

Not presently approved by the EPA for automotive use.

I have heard of people putting MP-39 in their automobiles but I
haven't tried it myself. The only thing they had to say was that the
head pressure was a bit high. Just one of those "don't know til you
try it" things.
