been having problems with them losing the charge.... and/or frying the
compressors....I have been putting them back into service after cleaning the
units and servicing them with braze-in taps.....18 degree superheat, 20
degree delta-T
unfortunately I don't have access to either an accurate scale or charging
cylinder to "weigh in" a charge...any help???
thanx

There are three kinds of men.
The one that learns by reading.
The few who learn by observation.
The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves
They're not meant to be serviced/repaired, just tossed.
It does seem they have really been cheapened - product wise but not
price.
GE has some nice electronics but some cheap plastics. Amana especially
seems to be worse and NOISY!!! The last Friedrich we put in melted its
discharge grille cuz the filter got too dirty. I haven't seen a Carrier
lately but if I recall, they went to 1 motor instead of their usual 2.

got a scale yesterday...... and yes my boss can make a penney scream!!
I'd appreciate a copy of the charging chart. Is it specific to a brand or
manufacturer?
Thanks.

Just curious -- many years ago, John Zink was a common air
conditioner brand name here. Any relation?

According to the Carrier Blue Book, they haven't been made in over
a dozen years. I haven't seen one here for awhile...of course, Phoenix
is a good proving ground for A/C's.

I'm not sure the technicalities but they got renamed Sunbeam and now
evolved into AAON, a popular national account rooftopper.
Ever hear of ADA? I think it is Air Distribution Associates. Funky old
bombs, one of our McD's has them.
