Hi, I have a 12 x 24 return air in the ceiling and I am getting a harmonic
sound from the return air metal vent when the fan runs. The filter is also
inside the vent, and the filter does not come in contact with the metal
removable vent. If I place my hand on the vent the noise stops, and the
vent is well secured. How can I stop the noise ?

Take a pair of needle nose pliers and bend each vane a little more towards
perpendicular to the rgille face. You can doo this by inserting the needle
nose pliers first near one end of the vane and then near other end bending
slightly at each end. This reduces the resistance to air flow and exposes less
surface area directly to the air flow. This is the down and dirty quick fix.
Other fix is to install a larger grille which often is a real pain to do.

Have a nice day, Ron
