I'm looking for input or feedback from anyone who's installed these, packaged
heat pumps or gas/electrics. Installed, serviced, repaired, etc.
Any known problems with the Relia-Tel Microprocessor ? Particularily
interested in the 7.5 and 10 ton models.

thanks

I just started up a few our co. installed on Walgreens. They are built
well, except for the outside air economizers. Trane didn't do great there,
and Honeywell has some problems with their modules. Other than defective
economizers on 4 of 6 units, they started perfectly.

There *IS* a service bulletin out on Precedent Relia-Tel microprocessors. I
don't have a copy
of it here at home, but I probably still have the e-preview of it at work -
I remember that one
because the list of affected units looked (size-wise) rather like the latest
copy of the Greater Houston
Metropolitan Area Yellow Pages.

I'll send myself a reminder to look this up for you when I go back in on
Monday.

Thanks Acrobat, I'd appreciate that.
My sales rep did indicate a few weeks ago there had been more than a few
"issues" with the first generation boards..

There were [3] general service bulletins released over the first year
or so that those RTRM and RTCI boards were on the market. I've set up
a temporary page on my personal (band) website where you can download
these bulletins in Adobe Acrobat -- no relation ;) -- (.pdf) format.

The reader is a free download if you don't already have it. I've also
included a bulletin having to do with the economizer, since someone
mentioned having trouble at startup on a few of those... I'll leave
this page up for a couple of weeks or so then it'll go away. Hope it
helps!

I've just posted a message with a link to a download page with these
service bulletins. Hope it helps.

Wow, how did you ever get all that info? Sounds like stuff trane wouldn't
want us to know.

How about that micro book they put out. A buddy of mine bought it but it's
too many pages to copy. Can you throw that up too?

I work in Commercial (Service) Sales for Trane.

None of this information is top secret, tho...
Heck, the stuff below was cut and pasted off a handout
that's included in the handbook given to every field tech.
There's plenty of good information available from the manufacturers
if you know the right way to go about getting it.
In my experience when people don't get the info. they
need it's usually because they're not asking the right people.

What's the literature #? If it's on Eagle or TraneNet and it's not
proprietary, I'll post it.

I really figured Trane wouldn't want those numbers out in the public. Are
contractors allowed to call the factory tech support lines? I tried to call
Siemens once and they told me to call my local rep since the 1-800 number I
found was for their techs to use only.

Is the service information or schematic for the Trane thermostat XT500C
available?
Thanks

I mainly deal with Commercial *equipment*, but I did find an Owner's
Guide for this stat, publication # 22-5128-02, which I'm adding to the
temporary page I set up for the reliatel downloads:

http://www.roarshak.com/reliatel.html

I don't know if you already have this or how helpful it is, but you
can also call Trane's toll-free "Thermostat Customer Assistance
Helpline" (I'm pretty sure since this is primarily a residential stat
that this # goes to the Tyler plant) - at 1 (877) 880-3381. Hours are
Mon-Fri, 7:00am-5:30pm Central time.

I have the original book that came with the system but was looking for the

Trane accomplishes much the same thing by changing those numbers every so
often.
