hello,
working on the mentioned web i had to create an area closed by
password.--- it“s a web for tax accounting company based in
berlin/germany---sorry, it“s only in german, because until now there
were no overseas clients expected B-))
the question is:
visitors need password to come from
http://www.steuerberaterin.com/Steueraktuell/Aktuell.htm
to
http://www.steuerberaterin.com/Steueraktuell/Mandanteninformation/Info-%20Index.htm

the last mentioned group contains the whole database for
customer/clients information bulletin.
the idea is now to make it possible that the password typed in leads
directly not to the whole collection but to the special document. this
document could have an own URL.

what have i to do ?
i“m using frontpage. all fp98 extensions are installed on the server..
any advices are welcome.
bye---wolfram

Hi, Wolfram.

Your site looks nice..!!

Yes, the directory(http://www.steuerberaterin.com/Steueraktuell/
Mandanteninformation) is blocked with a password. =)

I believe there are at least two ways to solve this problem.

One: By moving the password "wanted" file into a single directory and
block it in the same way as you have blocked the
"Mandanteninformation" directory.

(if only one file is needed to be blocked.)

Two: By Using ActiveX script to clarify a single file so that it will only
be
available for people who have certain cookies for websites.

<-- This one requires a little bit of ActiveX/Perl programming,,
but it's the safest way to block the site from unwanted
guests.

(if you go to Dejanews(http://www.dejanews.com), you will be able
to
see some Perl Scripts they have used..) <-- for Posting Options.

I would recommend you to use C++ or Visual Basic based ActiveX scripts,
since it's alot easier for servers that already have FrontPage98 extensions
installed.. =)

<-- You can actually round up all site materials with .asp extensions.
<-- It requires a little bit of a programming, but it's the
easiest
way to maintain the website for a long period of a time
without having to worry about intruders nor hackers. =)
