Translation. "He fell out of favor."
In 2004, he was essentially stripped of his vast wealth as one of the
oligarch's Putin robbed after having been served so well by them.
Among other accomplishments, he founded RT, he merged his vast,
private media empire with state controlled media bringing all Russian
media under the direct control of the Kremlin and vast wealth to
himself. He was an engineer by education and avocation working many
years in Mongolia.
In 2011, he retired with his family to Beverly Hills.
"In 2013, he returned to Russia and from October 1, 2013, until
January 12, 2015, he was head of Gazprom-Media, a state-controlled
media giant that describes itself as one of the largest media groups
in Russia and Europe.[17][18] He resigned in December 2014, citing
family reasons.[17] After retiring, he spent several months in
Switzerland for treatments to a spinal injury that he received while
skiing and then returned to his home in California."

And very shortly thereafter was found beaten to death in a Washington,
D.C. hotel room. Yeah, I'd say he fell out of favor. Right into a
barrel full brass knuckles and lead pipes.
At the time, cause of death was given out as heart attack. But four
months later, the DC medical examiner released a report that actual
cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and noted numerous
blunt force injuries on his arms and torso.
"The medical examiner’s office did not explain the timing of its
announcement, nor why the findings took so long. Officials there had
said as recently as Wednesday that it would not imminently release its
findings, only to reverse course the next day. His death remains the
subject of a police investigation, though spokesmen for the
Metropolitan Police Department and the F.B.I. in Washington declined
to comment."
Hmm . . .

Lessee . . . He was the head of Putin's propaganda machine. He
suddenly retired due to health reasons and for the second time, moved
to the US, where he seems to have stashed not inconsiderable wealth.

So if you are thinking of voting for Donald Trump,
the charismatic guy promising to ‘Make America Great
Again,’ stop and take a moment to imagine how you
would feel if you just met a guy named Donald Drumpf:
a litigious, serial liar with a string of broken business
ventures and the support of a former Klan leader who
he can’t decide whether or not to condemn.
Would you think he would make a good president,
or is the spell now somewhat broken? - John Oliver
