I'm going to make this short. Please READ Terry Luster's claim
that we put the logo in the MIDDLE of EVERY film. This is
untrue. Yes, we DO put a logo in our films but near the
BEGINNING of the film for a very short period.
We do not FORCE anyone to buy our tapes. So if you do not
want a brief MIDNIGHT VIDEO logo in the beginning of the
film then don't buy our tapes.

See I just don't think this is right.. I mean think about it.. How would
you like it if you went to the video store and bought Star Wars the
Special Edition and while you were watching it the BlockBuster logo kept
popping up..Or your at the theater watching the movie Alien Reserection
and suddenly a Star Theater Logo pops up during the movie..
And yes, since I'm sure they don't own the rights to a lot of these
movies, companies who do this are basically putting their names on the
video.. How would you like it if you traded videos with me, and
the videos were in excellent quality, but BEN PEREZ kept appearing in the
lower right hand corner of every video..
Besides, how do they get the logo on there without downgrading their video
a generation??
Just my thoughts on something I think is annoying and unnecessary.. If you

But is it on the film itself or below in the letterboxing black
area??? I once bought a dub of one of his films (from Revok no less) that had
his logo on the film itself but that was a long time ago. Seems the logo
no longer appears on the film itself, but rather just the "Imported by
Midnight video" at the beginning and end of the tape, I have little
problem with this... Maybe he's changed policy?

First off, Terry is right. Bill Knight made a statement on this newsgroup about
2-3 months ago (and I'm paraphrasing) that " my films are so hard to get and so
rare, that if any other alternative video dealer is selling them , they MUST be
duping my tapes." I believe this statement was in reference to his act of
putting his company logos on his films!
Bill, I "HAD" nothing against you until you made this stupid statement. Bill,
most of what you carry is not that super hard to find.
I have several European sources who have found some rare Japanese tapes for
less than what you charge. I have original factory box Japanese imports of
DEMONIA,HOUSE OF CLOCKS, SWEET HOUSE OF HORRORS, GAME OF SURVIVAL(aka TENEMENT)
, BLACK ANGEL, and several others. I paid about $20. to $30 for these. I'm in
the process of purchasing more. Bill, I don;t know how you could make such a
baseless statement.
I'm in no way connected with Terry Luster. In fact I usually find him a little
too aggressive, But, in this instant I have to back him up and TOTALLY agree
with him. Plus, I wish you would let your customers know that the Japanese
version of "BAD TASTE" is EXACTLY the same as the American version. The
Japanese laser is time expanded for no apparent reason. Don't believe me!!! Its
in Video Watchdog #8 or #9. Plus I own the American tape and compared the 2.
So, Thats another point Mr.Luster may be right about is that you don't watch
your import tapes.
Why pick on Craig Ledbetter. I've in the pass bought from both of you. What is
your point for 'accusing' him of using Greek imports.
Since you supposively know so much, you should know that several films are
available on GREEK tapes that have been dubbed into English that aren't
available any where else in the world in that format. The Hong Kong action
films "THE BIG HEAT" and "MAD MISSION 5"(aka ACES GO PLACES 5) are sold there
in English with Greek subtitles. If you don't like subtitles, there is no other
way to see these films in English but, the GREEK tapes. That may be why Craig
uses Greek pre-records. Craig is VERY honest about his quality. He lets you
know what videos are from a direct source or a copy from a copy. Plus, he's
nice and easy to talk too, unlike his former partner Tom Weisser at Video Crap
of Miami. So, again I ask, Why attack Craig Ledbetter. You won't do any good
for your self to flame him. I haven't met one person who can say anything bad
about him.

I have a few Midnight tapes myself...and I have to say one thing....WHO CARES
IF THE LOGO IS THERE OR NOT!? It's a movie on videocassette and when you buy
it, you know its gonna be a dub anyway. I have seen various tapes from
pretty much every company offering a...er, "duplication service" and to me,
the only thing I really care about is watching a movie that I cannot get
elsewhere. I used to get together with a bunch of friends one saturday a
month and they'd all have various movies from these companies and we'd have a
big "fest" all day. Whether I saw a copy from Midnight, CFV, VSoM, Luminous,
or whoever...the reason we watched them is simple, we just wanted to see the
movie!
Also, whether or not what Bill does is right or wrong, the fact of the matter
is this...Bill WAS instrumental in helping Elite, Grindhouse and is helping
me now with Synapse in getting materials/information to put these kinds of
movies out on tape/LD/DVD. You want to know something...check the back of
the TOMBS LD from Elite. If it wasn't for the help and cooperation of Bill
Knight, Elite would've probably NEVER have put out TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD.
After I saw a Midnight Video version on tape, I became VERY interested in
releasing TOMBS on LD. Bill sent me a tape for reference for the uncut
scenes, I showed it to Vini and Anchor Bay and, based on our enthusiasm,
Elite was able to secure the rights (because Bill Knight gave us the exact
company and person to speak to at the company to release the title). Just
for the record, his help extended to MARK OF THE DEVIL, RETURN OF THE EVIL
DEAD and TCM2.
I am not out to take sides in the issue of whether the logos are there or
not, but I am coming to the defense of a person that has been instrumental,
much more so than many other companies like his, in helping the horror fans
get what they want on laserdisc and tape in the US.
Bill Knight does indeed know a lot about the films he sells and his help and
cooperation with the various companies just proves it. Elite appreciated it
and I'm sure the other companies did too.

I have to say Midnight has been one of the most reliable when itcomes to
quality and shipping but I to find it fucking anoying to see that
fucking logo! For example I purchased the Naschy film Werewolf vs. the
Yeti and right were they have the whole werewolfs face on the screen his
logo pops up and totally fucks up the whole begining scene. No need for
this especialy when he's charging 25.00 a tape

re-establish yourself by explaining your STUPID midnight video
logo....You really think you're the only person to get their hands on a
particular film? If your such a wonderful source for hard to find videos
why not make your catalouge free? And for the LOGO....If you lost it and
stopped behaving like a money hungry, greedy, bitter, bastard...You may
have your chance at establishing yourself again...Other than that, your
a dick.
Oh yeah, Ill be publishing ALOT of articles in ALOT of magazines that
ALL of your customers READ about your COMMENTS.....Start looking for
another way to scam people....
OR
Drop the price of your freaking tapes, get rid of that stupid logo and
make a formal apology on this newsgroup and as well as FANGORIA
magazine.....that just might be a hint.

Hahahahaahaha! That is brilliance!!!! And by the way, I fully endorse
Craig at ETC. He always sends updates in the mail (for free... no
stinking catalog for sale), and is a nice person to deal with and very
knowledgeable on all that is eurotrash on tape. And no DAMN logos!!!!
