Hello. I have seen Psycho a million times.Once I was watching it with
my mom and sister. My mom told me that Anthony Perkins was gay. I told
her she was full of shit. But then it got me thinking. I went on the
internet and looked up Anthony Perkins. One page said he was married.
Another said he was gay. I'm pretty young, so I have no idea what is
true. So will somebody help me out? Was Anthony Perkins gay?
THANX!

Anthony Perkins was gay. Like a lot of other Hollywood stars (Charles
Laughton, Vincent Price, etc) he get married so there wouldn't be any
rumors about him.

There's a pretty complete biography about him out there, too.

The thing that amazes me is that you told your dear sainted mother that gave

Rugter Hauer gay?! I suppose nothing surprised me. Its seems that so many
male actors, musicians, artists and other creative fields are gay. Perkins
was certainly no surprise. Same with Richard Chamberlain and now George
Michael's is officially out of the closet (duh, like we didn't already figure
that out!).
I won't even attempt to get into the psychology behind that. It doesn't really
influence my enjoyment of their creation or acting, its just an interesting
tidbit to find out!

So? What does it matter that he was gay? That was his personal lifestyle
and it didn't affect us any. What matters is that he was a talented actor.

Though I agree with the overall theme in what you say, there's a slight
problem with the 'against every known concept of modern biology' theory.
;)

Jurassiac Park clearly stated some frogs change sex. (Which in reality is
true.) Yet society doesn't seem to think men/women should.

The male sea horse is the one that stays and watches over the kids. Yet
society still doesn't quite like accepting the fact that women want to be
the ones out of the household...

...and last but not least...

There are some species of animals (mammals, amphipians, etc...) that do
co-habitate, and yes try to mate, that are same sex.

Homosexuality isn't a new biological concept...it's just a sociological
one which people choose to try and ignore.

Just to throw something into the mix here. Being married does not mean
that you are straight. Let's take for example Lou Diamond Phillips and
his ex-wife. They were married and she left him for Melissia Ethridge
and then they ended up having a baby together.

Hey, nothing wrong with Price being gay, I was merely *surprised*. I
regard him as one of the finest horror actors ever, if not the greatest.
Of course it's a very, very close run with Peter Cushing, Boris Karloff

Shit I knew this going to happen. It doesn't matter, in the films, so long as

Let them ignore it if they want to. Pushing the issue on people who don't care
is only going to get people angry and bread more intolerance. If you want to a
gay great, do it in your house and don't broadcast it to me. I don't care.

My sentimets (sp?) exactly! I live in a primarily gay neighborhood (I did NOT
know this when I moved here, believe me!) and they have these stupid ass
rainbow flags and stickers all over their shit! Their cars, houses, t-shirts
etc. There's even one that has a rainbow flag...it's the American flag with the
stars, but the stripes are the gay rainbow! I think that's awful! They take
something as innocent as the rainbow and turn it into their symbol! And then
they have their marches and all that other stuff...they want to broadcast it
and make it publically known...to me that's insane! I don't want to hear about
it or know it! I don't care! My downstairs neighbor is a lesbian and the people

So,pushing gay issues will make people angry? Hell, gay people have had
heterosexuality pushed onto them from the day they were born so please don't

Whattta bunch of narrow-minded, rumor-mongering ninnies. How old are you
people?

Vincent Price was *not* gay. He was married three times--the last time
to a woman he left his 2nd wife for. He was a sensitive man with taste
for fine art and exotic cuisine, with a soemwhat florid acting style. So
People who rely on stereotypes instead of thought perceive this as
homosexual. "Effete heterosexual" is probably a better description for
Price. He played it up, since he knew he was typecast.

John Carpenter is *not* gay. I've personally seen him hit on a woman.
And it weren't window-dressing.

Anthony Perkins was *bisexual*. According to the stories, he was
exclusively homosexual until he lost his "virginity" to Sophia Loren in
the early 60s. Which is more than anyone posting on this subject can
say.

Again I saw him in London in several gay pubs & know of at least 3 fuck
parties he attended back in 1985-87.
He was into most things, but mostly gay, again nothing wrong with that, it
was the drug-fucked visits to London's Hampstead heath that did him in.

Yep I know people who were gay, married and had kids...doesn't mean they
don't act, produce, direct or do anything else as well as
heterosexuals..or anyone else for that matter...

Now now now, who can tell? I've always thought that many actors
have kept their sexuality locked away because they're afraid of
being typecast in gay parts, or they're afraid people won't
belive them playing straight characters if the public openly
knows they're gay. Like Nathan Lane; whether he is actually gay
is unknown, but the studio execs and the moviegoing public seem
to think he is, so that's why he's always landing those types
of parts. If it was open knowledge that Tom Cruise was gay,
wouldn't you think that would limit the parts he'd get?

It's time to kill this thread. It doesn't matter. All that matters is that AP was a good
actor.
