Oliver Reed plays Dr. Hal Raglan who has perfected the practice of
Pyschoplasmics, treating serious mental illness by physically manifesting
the symptoms on the body. A patient is Nola Carveth, who is full of rage
for her parents and her estranged husband Frank. Nicola is kept locked up
at Raglan's institute. After a visit, her daughter Candace returns with
bruises on her back. Frank decides to investigate further, to prevent
Nola having access to their child. Both of Nola's parents are killed by
STRANGE MIDGETS IN YELLOW RAINCOATS.
Candace's teacher, who is in love with Frank, is also murdered. When one
of the creatures is found dead, it turns out it has no navel. Frank
breaks into Raglan's institute, Somafree, and discovers that Nola's rage
manifests itself as children born out of cancerous-like growths - the
Brood . With Raglan's help (he's ultimately killed by the brood - of
course ) Frank strangles his wife and escapes with Candace.
No one notices the small welt developing on Candace's arm.
That's your murderous kids in yellow raincoat movie (though I guessed
DON'T LOOK NOW!) first too.
But I'm Canadian, and what the heck, the only director we've ever had with
true vision and an identifiable ouvre is David Cronenberg!
(I just wish he'd remake ATTACK OF THE MUSHROOM PEOPLE. It's made for his
obsessions!)
Best, Stan
Stan, I think this film is Daphne du Maurier's "Don't Look Now". Around '73. Donald
Sutherland, Julie Christie in Venice(?) keep seeing elusive little girl in yellow
raincoat and people keep showing up dead. Great shock ending when Sutherland finally
confronts the "little girl".

It might also be Don't Look Now. Starring Donald Sutherland &
Julie Christie.
IMHO, Of Course!!
YAA (Yet Another Al)
Oh yeah, I remember this.....sorta. Brooke Shields (of all people)
played one of the girls. "Alice" was in the title.
"Alice, Sweet, Alice" maybe.......

Spooky movie, but that was with a red raincoat, not yellow.

Sysop, The Phantasmagoria (1:2424/1313)
: Good answer, but the movie the person is asking about is the old Brooke
: Shields film, ALICE SWEET ALICE aka HOLY TERROR. Brooke Shields is in
: the movie for about 3 minutes. She is killed when a girl in a yellow
: raincoat kills her after her first communion. And the person is right
: about the sister thing...Brooke Shields' killer WAS her sister.
: Its a Public Domain movie that is available on just about every cheap
: knock-off video label. You can probably get it at a local department
: store for about $7. It was made in New Jersey not far away from where
: I now currently live.
No. The film is indeed ALICE, SWEET ALICE (1977), but the murderer in the
film is NOT Alice (played by Paula R. Sheppard), although it seems like it is
throughout most of the film. The murderer turns out to be the diminutive
family housekeeper (played by Mildred Clinton). However, after she (the
maid) has been caught, there is the suggestion at the end of the film that
the unstable Alice has now become completely unhinged as a result of
(among other things) the false accusations levelled at her, and will
eventually become homicidal.
Well, I just thought I'd clarify. It's been ages since I saw the film,
but I really liked it. : >
Bye for now ...

Hello Mark;
After I read your post I started having horror movie flashbacks, quick question
about the maid, did she have either a british or scottish accent?
Kathy
Soccer, why play anything else?

No, I think she was Hispanic. I seem to have the idea that she was
Puerto Rican.
Well, bye for now ... : >
