The July 18,1994 issue of The New Yorker magazine had a interesting and
well written article about trans-sexuals, specifically men who had once
been women (including one man, who even as a woman knew she would be
attracted to men when she became a man.)
The article asked: what is gender? It isn't *just* the genitals we're
born with or the genitals we sexually react to.
so why am i bring this up you ask...
Well, 100 years ago people who thought they'd been born the wrong sex
were rather looked on as freaks (probably mostly still are i guess, it's
only been 100 years after all). Now it is generally acknowledged that
maybe there is more to the picture...
Do you think there will be a future where those of us born to the
wrong species will be at least accepted as something other then certified
weirdos (barring the nanotechology i doubt medical science will be able
to do more than just accept... but that in and of itself would be
*something*)
