Can YOU tell I REALLY DIG this idea??? (:xD)
Oh, I'm very much in favour of it. I just have to get home, and FIND the
original codes. Now, as I had them within easy access last night, the
Law of Inconstants says that said disk with said file on it will be missing
from my shelf when I get home this evening. *grin*

One thing to check, alt.fan.furry recently came up with a furry-code.
I'm sure that a lot of it could be used for a were-code.

c - canine (Dogs/wolves)
v - vulpine (Foxes)
f - feline (All cats)
i - insectoid
r - reptilian

p - pinniped (seals etc)
m - mythical beast.
Notes: Those who show several traits can combine "P" variables, and,
if desired, indicate the predominant trait by prefixing it with a "+",
so if you posess both canine and ursine attributes, but feel more

I'd never heard of anything like these codes before, so I checked it
up. Amusing idea. Me like. Wrroff. However, I think that the fur code
is lacking in some vital aspects, so...
Here is just a first suggestion I made for Transformation, i.e. the
kind of shift you experience (may be several) and the RL Impact.
The types are originally from the old HandBook. And as I said, this is
only a 0.1 version. The place where it should appear in the code, feel
free to suggest.
T - TRANSFORMATION
the first letter sx denotes spiritual/mental shift, whereas px denotes
physical shifts.
s0 - Have yet to experience a Shift of any kind.
su - Aura Shifting. Assuming the animal energy, resulting in a
Wolfish (or other phenotype) mood. Behaviour and senses generally
affected.
sm - Mental Shift. Generally a much deeper Shift than Aura
Shifting. The Animal Side is more or less totally in control.
sa - Astral Shifting. The Shifter goes into the spiritworld (or
astral plane) and Shifts there.
sd - Dream Shifting. The Shifter is a Wolf (or whatever animal) in
their dreams, or where the Shifter changes physically in their dreams.
ss - Spiritual Shift. To those therianthropes who being a Shifter
is a very spiritual thing, Mental Shift may be regarded as Spiritual.
In this code however, ss is used for the "Totemistic" approach, where
an external spirit is channeled into the body.
pm - Molecular Shift. Instantaneous physical shift of the body.
pc - Classical Shift. The gradual metamorphosis from human to
animal, that usually takes several minutes.
pb - Bilocational Shift. The body (usually) becomes comatose or in
trance and a physical animal materializes, either in the vicinity or
at some distance.
pk - Magickal Shift. The transformation is accomplished through a
magickal ritual of some kind.
pp - Possession Shift. The therianthrope send out his/her spirit to
take possession of a real, live animal.
& - Sense Shift. This is used to denote that most, if not all
Shifting is done involuntarily and that the therianthrope has no or
little control over it. It could be placed either after T (ex. T+++&)
or after a particular Shift form (ex. T+su/sd&)
Degree of Shift: Added after the letter T, you may use the one most
common one or several.
One suggestion is to use the highest degree you have achieved, on the
conditon that it has been done more than once.
T++++ : I become 100% the Animal. If it's physical Shifts, I'm
indistinguishable from a common animal of that species.
T+++ : A strong mix between the Animal and the human, with accent
on the animal (like the "classic werewolf")
T++ : A mix between the human and the Animal, my
personality/senses/body display several animal features.
T+ : I remain human, but my personality/senses/body gains some
animal qualities, like a tendency to growl, a slight shift in body
language etc. (No need to get a haircut, but maybe a close shave.)
T : The Shift only affect me emotionally/my mood. There is no major
change in my personality or behaviour otherwise.
T- : It has happened, but only I noticed, I think.
T-- : It's so subtle that no one has ever noticed, not even myself.
But it's in there, somewhere...
Usually there would used be more than one.
An example would be if someone shifts mentally (stronger than aura
shifting) and in Dreams, and has acquired the 'mind of a wolf' at
these times, but always with the human side more or less in control.
This should be written as:
T++sm/sd
And one can always use the following from the furcode:
T? : Indicates that you haven't decided where you fall in the
category, or that you have no opinion one way or another.
T~ : Indicates an approximation. You normally fit the given code, but
it varies from time to time, or you're not completely sure
T! : Indicates a positive refusal to participate in this category.
Unlike ?, which means you haven't made up your mind yet, ! means you
have made up your mind that you want nothing to do with this subject,
for or against it.
T# : Indicates that you prefer to keep this information to yourself.
RL IMPACT:
i++++ : I am not a human, I am a wolf!
i+++ : I've been known to bark at people I don't know to greet them
i++ : I've been known to bark at friends to greet them
i+ :I often talk about animals (or particular species), or weres
and have a collection visible at home.
i : I make an occasional reference to animal symbols, and what they
mean to me.
i- : I only tell very close friends
i-- : I tell nobody
So, I for instance would write (so far):
Pc T+++sm/sa/sd/p# i++
Gu cairdeas le urram,
(in friendship with honour)

<snip>
The (snipped) Transformation code sounds good. Sounds like it should
come right after the P (Phenotype) section, no?
The only thing I have to add (for now >:D) is a suggestion for a
religion section. 'Tis a bit off the point, but it seemed lacking from
the Furry Code. So I'll put up my ideas for it - feel free to comment,
add, or flame for whatever reason. :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R. Religion
Rx: Choose x from the below:
RB - Buddhist
RC - Christian (anyone who wants to try and make sublabels for all the
denominations is welcome to it....)
RH - Hindu
RI - Shinto
RJ - Jewish
RM - Muslim
RN - Native American
RP - Pagan (non-Wiccan)
RS - Shamanist
RW - Wiccan
!R = Atheist
R? = Agnostic
Place a tilde (~) between the R and the letter if you're uncertain
(R~M). You can combine this with R? (R?~B).
If you've converted from one religion to another, you can place the
letter of the original in parentheses after the current code - for
example, I would use RW(J).
Add w after that if your beliefs involve weres/shifters in some way.
Further modifiers:
R+++: There is nothing more important to me than religion. I observe
all holidays and services...well...religiously.
R++: Religion is very important to me. I arrange my life around
religious functions.
R+: Religion is important to me. I try to attend services regularly.
R: I go to church/synagogue/mosque on occasion.
R-: I go to church on Christmas and Easter (usually).
R--: I only believe this because its how I was raised.
Replace the +s with *s if you volunteer regularly at your (or another)
religious organization (i.e., if you're regularly invloved with
religion). Unless you get paid for it, in which case you can use the $
modifier.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright, that's all for now. Maybe I'll feel compelled to write
something more on-topic later. Maybe not. :)
Good hunting and a fair wind always at your back...

All in all, a clever idea... but not to my taste. As exhaustive as the
code is becoming, I *still* don't feel so easily classified or
pigeonholed... and would prefer to take the time to describe myself in my
own half-assed words.
