Not too good at the moment.
To cut a long story short, some careless driver almost took off my left leg.
This was on Halloween, 2009 - and I still ain't up and walking properly yet.

Oof. X( I'm without transportation, myself - my car served as a lesson to
my sister that, "No, you can't just keep adding more oil". The replacement
she bought (without regard to my desire to actually inspect both options)
blew a bushing. So for the foreseeable future, I'm a pedestrian.

As you can imagine, this does nothing for my job prospects. :/

I recognize some of your names from the early years of this newsgroup. I didn't post here, but once I found out about the newsgroup in '98 lurked a little. I still check in from time to time. Wish I'd been here in the beginning. Would have liked to have attended the first howl in '94 too.

I think the only forum that has survived from the early 2000s is werelist, and it's sitting in some semi broken limbo state. People still go and post there.

Other snippets I've found over the past couple of years:
I talked on the phone with WolfVanZandt about a year ago now and it turns out he wis living with a few others including Coyote Osborne, the founder of werelist.
The person credited with hosting the first howl, Smash Greywolf still has an online presence, although I haven't successfully contacted him yet.

I also found these photos from the 1995 2nd Harvest Howl a little while back:
http://www.firelion.org/raven/photos/
Reemule is in them. He passed away some time ago now due to a failed lung transplant.
If anyone has photos of the first Harvest Howl I'd love get a copy of them. I enjoy collecting the history of the therian community.

Then there are these gems from my own 1998 howl:
http://community.fortunecity.ws/meltingpot/anderson/576/chp1.html

Nice to see some still lurk here. I've tried at times to track down some of the early posters of AHWW, but the trail usually goes cold around 2005. I imagine most of them were around the same age since in the early 90s it was just college/university students who had Internet access. Most people seem to disconnect from their online life around the age of 25.

This place must still hold some meaning for those of you that still check it out from time to time. It may be long dead, but it's a culturally significant place to the therian community. I can't believe we've come to a point where there the majority of therians I run into don't know what AHWW is and that it is the origin of the online community and the vocabulary that they now enjoy.

AHWW will likely never be resurrected. If it were to become meaningful again the teenage trolls would find it and probably go through the trouble of destroying it again. OTOH since no one uses newsgroups anymore except the old fogies, maybe it could come back and fly under the radar.

Although all of your names are familiar to me, that is all I know of you, but I am still curious what has happened to all of you and where you are at in life. It seems so fast that when I first came here I was about 22 and now I'm pushing 40. I think of everyone here just remaining the same age, but of course you are either close to my age or older.

Everyone wants all sorts of feeds and apps built in. Plain text just
wont do it for the kids.

So what web forums do all the old fogies hang out on? Except for werelist I've mostly found the younger generation on the ones I've seen.

There are people I've lost touch with that I've been unable to find any current online presence for. Mudgewolf, Winter, Sarah B, BlackPaws to name a few...

they needed to say and moved on.
Like I poasted; werwolfcafe was the only forum aside from Smashes one
that I visited. I think Smash had one...maybe?

Yeah. But I bet theres a new crop springing up around the "Bitten"
series on SciFi teevee.

Protip: set your newsreader so the replies appear at the bottom as its

Been there, done that. . . . and as you must know . . . it's not nice.
There is a very separate definition of "living" and "existing".

At times I wish the driver who almost took off my leg had done the job
properly - some days are
more existing than living . . . . but as long as the good ones outweigh the
bad ones, then I'll carry on.

Thought so.

I'm (un)lucky is as much that most opiates don't have much effect on me,
pain wise.

I can see what you mean about our health service - though in my case a lot
of the treatment was paid for by the other party's insurance.
Actually - when I say that - the health service claimed the cost back from
the other side, but if the accident had been totally my fault then I would
still have received the same treatment.

It would have been cool. I was born in '87, so in '94 I would have been
7 years old. I wasn't innocent even then. If only I was wise enough at
the time to buy a fake ID and get a car or something. I may have been

I remember that I became "persona non-grata" on werelist when I did oppose to use the silly therian logo and religion. My account was "damaged", I couldnt reply or post anymore just browse comments. Savage, Osborne, Kyoth/GoldenWolf deny it until today. So around 2004 I moved away for good.

I like how the few old muzzlers here want to paint ahww like a small family. It was not. There were rival groups of course people remember Reemul but not BearX despite he did host therainthrope.net a rival site of werelist. BearX quit therian scene in mid 2000, part bored of fakers and the otherkin madness (hello to any weresmurfs there) part he had married. Of course he did shut doors and Frnkzk (now a furry called dr leo) did host all sites in the server but mine. So I moved to furnation meh.

I did dare to add the part 8 to the ahww and the grey muzzlers agreed. Ahww in 1998 was too european/anglo and there are too much folklore and myhts about werewolves. If you ask me I prefer to be a desendant of kings (maya myth about weres) than to be a cursed guy that only has fun on full moon.

The term polywere was coined after me, and still a lot of therians will never forgive me for that. But who cares, I won the raffle so jealous people can see furry porn on velan... hrm netscape'96 now allows tables, why I dont made a website called Wolfcountry?

Edge was the channel on irc where all stated of. There were several trolls like Lanmaru, Fax and of course yours truly (so why few people bother to remember me) people that seemed just the seed of furries/otherkind now active Furaffinity/livejournal users and fellow greymuzzlers like obsorne, polar, bearX. Yes irc and usenet was the rage on ghoperspace and more rad when used in a VAX 9000 mainframe.

*****

There is your timelime from an ex-ahww. Basically the group did tear up for madness from some people: The darn logo and religion, the otherkin, the trolls, the server wars, the ego wars (seriously nobody remember that Goldenwolf did host a howl for "certiticate" therians? tsk, tsk), the spiritual furries (my totem animal is horny today), etc. AHWW is dead, keep it like that. The winners run werelist and they are the official source, the losers just go elsewhere.

Also my name popup a lot of places to find me so really your wolf nose is very sharp. :) I think I left enough for your archeology homework. See'ya!

Hello. It's nice to suddenly see a discussion here. I don't think anyone would know me other than Wolfreak. I go by Wolf Daughter everywhere on the internet. I've displayed more animalistic behavior all my life. Around 2000-2001 I started to awaken as I realized that I didn't understand how to socialize well with other humans, especially my class mates in high school. Shortly after that, I found Werelist. I was in and out of the online community a lot since then. I went to university, etc. I'm currently 29 years old. Living in Canada. A few months ago, I created the Youtube Channel Therian Nation in the hopes of putting out correct information. Tumblr, Facebook, and other places are full of incorrect information. So, it would be nice if maybe at some point I could interview some of the older members in the discussion here.
