There you have it. I make a point of reporting every spammer, and usually
get a reply saying that the offending account has been shut down.
Unfortunately, simply closing down the accounts of spammers is about as
effectual as Walter Gilman's stopping up rat holes in his apartment. A more
effective anti-spam method would be to trace the origin [via the
NNTP-Posting-Host number], drag the spammer out into the street with a
fishing gaff through the scrotum and beat him senseless with a cudgel.
Repeat offenders will require harsher measures taken, e.g. "creative"
surgery.
