As I wrote in the other thread, it can be found in THE XOTHIC LEGEND
CYCLE.
I HATE that kind of misprint. I've written an e-mail to Mythos Books,
and suggest you do the same. Maybe later printings can be corrected.

This story is not mythos and is more Price having fun with his
clerical training; it is aghost story of sorts. I liked it well
enough.
> Midnight Mass - 1988
>
> (NOR THIS ONE) (IS IT MYTHOS?)
As above, non mythos, written by Price the seminarian, also sort of a
ghost story. OK enough, a bit predictable.
> The Transition of Zadock Allen - 1995

You know, in The Innsmouth Cycle it is attributed to Lewis Theobald.
Is this a pseudonym?

Right you are, Jim. A young apprentice betrays the witch he is
apprenticed to and attempts to use Cthaat Aquaningen to find out about
treasures of the deep. Results are a bit predictable although the
imagery was good. For me it was OK, not Price at his best. BTW,
maybe you should write a story about an internet geek who accidentally
stumbles across a Cthaat room...
As usual, I m in awe of your encyclopedic knowledge!
Matt
Thanks for the contents listing for Price's collection. With you and
a few others adding information on previous appearances of the
stories, I decided to drag out my binders and extract the information,
combining with the information that was furnished by others.
Take care.

And may I say it is good to see you posting again. I hope we see more
of you from here on; you've been missed.
Matt
PS: My retirement ceremony is May15th!
I concur with all my heart! We seem to be entering a new phase of
Mythos fiction being published in the small press, especially from
Mythos Books and Hippocampus Press. We need our experts with us, and
Paul Berglund is our top expert. He has been so involved, for so long
a time. The Mythos seems very much alive at the moment. We need some
kind of on-going online site that lists relevant new Mythos fiction
and poetry (please let us not neglect the poetry -- I've yet to see
Ann K. Schwader's new sonnet collection from Mythos, but I'll bet it's
amazing!) -- the books of such listings become out-dated the moment
they see print. I am constantly adding to my list of published Mythos/
Lovecraftian fiction, and Hippocampus has n active programme of
publishing new Mythos collections, anthologies, novels and poetry (do
any of you have their new pb edition of Clark Ashton Smith's THE
HASHISH-EATER, which includes an audio cd of Donald Sidney-Fryer
reading the ENTIRE POEM??!!)
You have been sorely missed, Paul -- both as a recorder of all things
Mythos, and as an editor! It is my hope that you will return to
actively editing new anthologies of Mythos fiction -- traditional, new
wave, cutting edge, whatever -- for Mythos Books, Hippocampus, &c. We
need your dedication and expertise.
Fondest regards from Wilum
Matt
PS: I have the Hashish Eater by CAS but I didn't get to it yet. I'll
have to check if it has a CD, because that would be a very unexpected
bonus!
(do

I have it. It's a very fine edition with the variant texts as Smith
revised the poem, and a gloss for the rare words.
