Any help would be appreciated,
Bruce
The parts can probably be made if not found. As the owner of a 1000 day
(yes, 1000) Schatz, I speak from experience that these torsion
pendulum/suspension spring devices are voodoo to get working well. I
gave up and had an clockmaker tune mine up when it refused to maintain
reliable operation. I suggest you visit Mike's Clock Clinic:
for more info about 400-day repair. There is a well known text
published on these clocks (Horolaver).
Regards,
GNC
The Horlovers guide to 400 day clocks has excellent info on this and
many other 400 day clocks. Much info in it on repair and adjustment.

Bruce,
Yes it can be accomplished but easy is a relative term. The
first this to do is purchase the Horolovar Repair guide because repair
are practically impossible without this book. The next step is to
read and trial and error on your part. The last step is to ship it to
me (B ^}.

I also advertise in the MART, The Horological Times, and
The Watch & Clock Review.
A complete overhaul with a two year labor warranty is $200.00
for any 400-day (anniversary) clock. I do not work on battery driven
clocks.
The $200. will include a new suspension spring and any suspension
parts such as top and/or bottom block and/or fork. Also included at
that price is return shipping with anywhere from $500 to $1,000 of UPS
insurance depending on the age of the piece. All other parts will be
extra.
Please be sure to double box the clock and insure it for at least
$1,000. By double box I mean to pack the 1st and 2nd boxes as if you
were going to ship each independent from the other one. Also, to
reduce your shipping costs ship via UPS be sure that the 2nd box
measures 16" x 16" x 14" or less.
My turnaround is usually 6 to 10 weeks. Please be sure to REMOVE
or lock the pendulum before doing anything ! And NEVER send the glass
dome. Old parts are returned by request only.
If you decide not to go ahead with the repair, then I return the
clock via UPS and COD. The charge will be $40.00 plus the COD,
shipping, and the insurance charges.
I do not do any work, repair, or refinishing on the case. A
Horolovar instruction manual is included with every repaired 400-day
clock.
Respectfully,
Michael P. Murray
