I'm trying to make cutters for watch pinions. (Module .4 and smaller)
The usual methods for getting form-relief clearance for the cutter teeth
(bending, off-center arbors, etc.) are not working out for me on the
very small pinion cutters. My would-be cutters are about 7 mm in diameter.
I've read that some early watch factories were able to cut pinions using
notched cutters without form-relief. Does anyone know how this was done?
Has anyone had success with any kind of home-made pinion cutter?
