Hello,
I've recently been offered a Krug Baumen Chronomaster Wrist watch complete
with a fancy leather case for a fraction of the retail price, and i'm
worried about buying a crap copy.
It looks good Quality and every thing works on it but my question is ;

Is there any way to check, i.e. Things to look out for on the watch that
only an original would have to know if it's a fake or not.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Krug Baumen are crap. Full Stop. Many most attractive catalogues are in
circulation and always show impressive prices. The watches are offered for a
fraction of the price, often at promotions for time-share holidays and the
like. The watches are worth a fraction of this reduced price. Sure they
work, and look nice, but that is it.

The Chronomaster is advertised for £595.00, 1755 DM, 3830 BF, 1965
GLD, $975 Thus giving the watch an air of being internationally
renowned. I doubt if the gold model for £5950 is actually available. I
suspect this is just to give an added air of respectability! The Steel model
will be sold at a knockdown price of £150 or so. The watch
is equivalent to something worth about £40.00.

I have a catalogue which a friend gave me. He received it when he was
invited to attend a presentation for time share holiday apartments in Wales.
He was told he could purchase one of these watches at a huge discount if he
attended the presentation.

The company lists an address at 72 New Bond Street, London and I should be
interested to know what actually is at that address!

I have had a go at Swatch recently, but I accept that Swatch are an honest
and fully recognised international company who have come up with a brilliant
marketing plan!

Krug Baumen however is a big scam. Do not buy one unless you really like the
look of it and it costs less than £25.00.

I doubt if any one has faked one. It would cost more to fake one than to
produce an original.

Best wishes Michael Ker

I wonder if you are referring to
http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~ashley/prod01.htm

This site has the same pictures as the catalogue and professes to be an
independent agent etc. etc. hmmmm ??? I would have E-mailed this to Nexus
6 but you seem to have a curious address which bounces. I dont like giving
this site free publicity but if you visit it and check out the Company
Profile on the home page, I'm sure you can reach your own conclusions about
the site. Is there another site??

Best wishes Michael Ker

The site I'm referring to was Krug-Baumen.com
That i found when doing a search for the company,
It lists the the watch range but doesn't give much about the actual company

I'm coming to the conclusion that this is one big scam to sell elaborate
watches at cheap prices to convince people that the watches are actually
worth the list price and are getting a good deal.

Thanks again for your help and i'll check the site you've givern me.

Yep, you are clearly a fine judge of the human condition. I checked out
K-G com and the "About " section got me. Also they have moved from Bond
Street [Very exclusive shopping area in West London] to a post box in a
suburb. They are clearly going up in the world. Why exactly is this
photocard
required to activate the warranty (Rhetorical question)?? Where are the
official stockists? (another rhetorical question)

"All of our official representatives carry a registered stockist
identification photocard, which enables them to activate the full five year
movement warranty* on all Krug-Baümen timepieces.">>>>quoted from web
site>>>>> (and not much else, in the "About" section!)

Take Care Michael Ker

Perhaps EVERYONE who bites for the scam becomes 'an official K-B stockist'!!!
Is it possible it's an MLM deal?

So to the experts I have to say Wow! I've been wearing my Krug-Baümen Sports master watch regulary near over 20 years never knowing or even suspecting it was a fake, So thank you so very much for this I would have gone on for years thinking it was real being as the watch has never missed a beat all these years.
But sayin gthat I did buy knowingly a Fake Rolex watch in Bangkok must have been 17years ago, which I bought for someone I worked with, he changed his mind to my actual gain. This watch as an automatic also keeps perfect time
