I just got one of these watches and it is cool. The atmoic feature
synced right away (in less than 3 minutes; I even did it twice to be
sure). It is big and heavy, but looks great. The one that I got was
the GW1200BA-1AV. It has a metal band with titanium highlights. The
one problem I had is that the LCD is inverted, meaning that the
background is dark and the letters or numbers come out lighter than the
background. This led to confusion when I wanted to disable the alarm.
I thought I disabled it, but I, infact, enabled it. Everything is
inverted. Not a big deal I'll just need to get used to it. I don't
know how the solar thing is working yet, but it seems good. The watch
is stylish and good for casual and business events. I might wear it
for formal events, but that might be pushing it. I have to say that I
am enamored with the atomic, solar and toughness features of this
watch. The alarms, stopwatch, timer, and world time are bonuses. The
one drawback is the size, but I guess that is expected with all these
features. I wonder how the solar feature compares with the kinetic
watches out there...

Yeah, man.

Sounds like you've hit nirvana.

Enjoy, but go easy on the bowling and pork rinds.

I have one of the smaller solar 'atomic' RC Casio watches, and it's the
most functionally excellent watch I've ever seen. No maintenance, not even
daylight savings adjustments.

I wish Casio would make a large variety of more elegant and expensive
watches using this technology (Oceanus doesn't quite qualify); I keep
reading watch magazines, and thinking of buying a mechanical watch due to
their vastly superior aesthetics, but when I think of the sacrifice I'd
have to make in timekeeping and convenience...

The solar/atomic Gs are definately nice watches. I have a few g-shock
watches both with and without those features and love them all.

You comment on the size, you might try a DW-5600E, it is a g-shock but
smaller than most of the models. They do make a 5600 variation with the
solar/atomic options but I do not think it is available in the US, you
would have to order it from Japan probably.
