I've recently looked at the zeitner.com website. They advertise watches
worth £700 for £115 or similar. I thought I'd research it on the
internet, and found a lot of "zeitner is a scam" messages - but nearly
all of them were from one man, "billjackson5". So, excluding his views,
can anyone tell me whether its a scam? It seems the website has been
around for over 4 years - and it hasn't been taken down. Surely that's
a positive sign? They advertise diamonds, mother-of-pearl fascias etc,
so if they were lying wouldn't they have been taken down?
I suspect that this company is may sell products that are comparable to
Invicta, Elysee, etc. The marketing ploy of offering huge discounts on
unrealistic prices is certainly similar. Chances are if you buy at
the Amazon price or lower you will get reasonable value for the money,
but don't expect an Oris or a Titoni.
These watches are not worth 700UKP, but they are worth somewhere in the
vicinity of 100 retail (meaning that they cost the vendor somewhere in the
vicinity of 50 to 70 UKP. So if you buy one for that price it won't be a
ripoff, just a more or less fair retail price for a Far East made watch with
a decent looking case. Somehow, this brand appears to be a brother brand to
"Klaus Kobec". There is no "legitimate" brand that sells for 80% off of
"list" - the inflated list is just a marketing gimmick, but a relatively
harmless one once you see thru it.
Personally, I'd say get a Seiko or a Tissot or something that is slightly
more "legit", but if the styling appeals to you greatly, get the Zeitner.
If you google groups for billjackson5 his lengthy post lists just about
every site related to watches on the internet and labels them all scams.

Hi,
I've recently looked at the zeitner.com website. They advertise watches
worth Ł700 for Ł115 or similar. I thought I'd research it on the
Jack: you are one hundred percent right. Its the same guy, who under
several aliases has been trying to revolutionize the watch industry by
himself: T.erry Allis**n and his Colorado based Sweeeeezterland
M*ntres Allis**n.
And now the other Neverland one got off the hooks!

Potential buyers: do not try to find out and buy a bona fide Chinese,
Korean, Indian or whatever "made" watch if you go for the price,
otherwise, go for not so much more expensive genuine Japanese Brand, or
invest into a genuine reputed Swiss Watch Brand from recognised
sources.
That specific selle rhas been offering a lot of MA watches with its
full logo and we always suspected that it was one of TA's so many
aliases.
"The Hydra which lived in the swamps near to the ancient city of Lerna
in Argolis, was a terrifying monster, which had the body of a serpent
and many heads (the number of heads deviates from five up to one
hundred there are many versions but generally nine is accepted as
standard), of which one could never be harmed by any weapon, and if any
of the other heads were severed another would grow in its place (in
some versions two would grow). Also the stench from the Hydra's breath
was enough to kill man or beast (in other versions it was a deadly
venom). When it emerged from the swamp it would attack herds of cattle
and local villagers, devouring them with its numerous heads. It totally
terrorized the vicinity for many years. "

Or the Klaus Kobec $1100 for $279. Had a chance to see the lady's
Chrisma model with Roman digits and blued hands; Swiss quartz. I've seen
worse. A classic French design, legible, and women seems to like it.
The Zeitner seems to be associated with the UK. A search of google
groups indicates that it is marketed there through a newspaper prize
giveaway. And it usually appears in ads with the Klaus Kobec line.

Hey, Isn't SWG's first name Klaus; I wander what his last name is.
