The bezel on my Seth Thomas octagon drop wall clock is broken.
Specifically, it broke right where the hinge attached to it, and the
part of the hinge that's attached to the clock appears to be broken as
well.

My inclination at this point is to just buy a new bezel.
Unfortunately, this is going to mean ordering one online and I find
that you never quite get what you need or what actually works when you
order clock parts online...though I allow that this may be because I'm
not an expert and don't always know how to order exactly what I need.

I have found a website on which I can purchase a hinged bezel. Is
there anything I need to be careful about in ordering this part?

Thanks,

Steve

actually you would be better to simply repair the original bezel that
belongs to the clock, the hinges are just lead soldered on, the hinge
can be repaired or replaced, the part that screws to the case is
generally under the dial edge, so the hands and dial need to come off if
that is the case.

the only time I fit a new bezel to a vintage clock is when the original
is either missing or mangled so badly it cannot be repaired.

a hinge repair is a pretty normal straightforward repair job, any decent
clockmaker can fix it for far less than a new bezel.
